I love it. But my mom and sister said it sounds too Spanish 😂 thoughts?

AnxiousHeffalump · 30/12/2021 16:51

It’s a lovely name.

janedani · 30/12/2021 16:55

My daughter is Rosa Helen, she is 6. We love the name she was a December birthday and for us it meant Christmas Rose.

elp30 · 30/12/2021 16:56

Rosa is a lovely name.
I'm Hispanic so it's common with my ethnic group but it's popular because it's beautiful.

Kitkat151 · 30/12/2021 17:05

It’s fine

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/12/2021 17:10

It’s lovely but so many Rose/Rosie/Rosas about I would find something else

stillsleeptraining · 30/12/2021 17:12

It's lovely and some great role models. This is the name my heart wanted, but I didn't want a "pretty" name for a girl. I still fantasise about having called DD that!

Jtb5790 · 30/12/2021 19:11

@Kitkat151

It’s fine
Love the enthusiasm 🤣🤣

It’s beautiful. My niece is called Rosa x

Nevilleneville · 30/12/2021 19:21

Beautiful name. I’ve got one, with a very boring English surname. Incidentally, my DSis also said it sounded too Spanish. I ignored her!

Some wonderful Rosa’s in history too.

stitchinguru · 30/12/2021 19:26

My daughter (16) is Rosa Esther (middle name after my Mum).
I’ve never regretted it, she likes it and she’s the only one we/she knows.
I do think it suits darker hair/complexion and fortunately she has both.
Go for it.

DramaAlpaca · 30/12/2021 19:28

I have a slight preference for Rose, but Rosa is gorgeous too.

BFPDec21 · 31/12/2021 02:56

Lovely!

I wouldn't discuss baby names either, there was a 4 week wait for registration of our first and we told people we didn't have a name until she was registered. Of course we called her the name we gave her in private though. We didn't regret it one bit.

ColinRobinson · 31/12/2021 03:13

I love it, it’s one of my favourite names. Had to settle for using it for my cat, though.

Also Rosa Diaz from Brooklyn 99 is badass.

frenchfancy81 · 31/12/2021 03:23

Our niece's name and I think it's lovely. She's the only one I know, too. Your child, your choice, so ignore anyone else!

DockOTheBay · 31/12/2021 03:27

Rosa is gorgeous. I wouldn't automatically think Spanish but even if some people do, why is that a problem?

Jtb5790 · 31/12/2021 04:58

Not a problem at all for us. Just didn't know if we were missing something. But these replies have firmly confirmed we weren't missing anything at all 🤣

I love it. Our surname starts with ‘Sa’ so couldn’t use it, so we went for Rosalind as a middle name.

Rosa as a first name is beautiful. I wouldn’t automatically associate it with Spanish. DD1’s name has a Spanish history, but has been used in English for decades so no one would consider it now a Spanish name.

Go for it OP!

PurrBox · 31/12/2021 08:06

I associate it most with Rosa Parks. Beautiful name!

Wellington17 · 31/12/2021 08:24

Absolutely love it! It’s on our list. Go for it 😊

QuiltedHippo · 31/12/2021 10:37

Ooh I love it, if I had another DD I think it'd go on the list!

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 31/12/2021 10:58

We went for it. She's 5 4 months now. We are South American though... so the Spanish sound was intentional.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/12/2021 11:01

It was on my list twelve years ago, but I went with Rosalind as a middle name instead.

Blackberrybunnet · 31/12/2021 11:03

Love it. Not too Spanish at all. Now, Conchita ....

Musmerian · 31/12/2021 11:05

@Noshowlomo

It’s beautiful. My niece is called Rosa x
Me too. Strong name and great associations. Rosa Parks and Rosa Luxembourg.
RowsOfHolly · 31/12/2021 11:10

Great name.

Another adding to the chorus of ‘don’t discuss’. It’s your baby, you can’t decide by committee, and once a baby is born and named people associate the name with the baby and wind their necks in with their opinions.
