@PurpleThursdays

Not many Davids, stephens, peters and pauls these days.
As a primary school teacher, I'm JUST starting to notice those names creeping back. Especially within the eastern european and black african communities.

Peter/Pytr/Piotr is common amongst the Russian/Romanian/Ukrainians.

I can think of at least 5 Davids, and 3 or 4 Stephens, all under the age of 10.

Haven't met a young Paul yet though...

A lot of these names are still going quite strong. I still teach a lot of really young young Lily’s, Jacks, Harrys, Olivias, Ellie’s etc. It’s only in the very early years of school - nursery and reception - that I’m starting to see those names filter out and more of what I would call my grandparents generation of names become the dominant names (Elsie, Maud, Alfred, Albert). And while in the early 2000s you came across the odd Fox or River, there are a lot more of those names now as well as surnames used as first names (Jackson, Tate, Hunter, Mason) I actually really enjoy looking at name changes and trends over time. I’m waiting for Barbara and Brenda to make a comeback along with Kieth and Gary.
