Is this crazy?

So my partner loves Monty as a name and although I don’t love it I don’t hate it.
I’d rather he had a ‘proper’ first name however I really don’t like Montague/Montgomery…
Would I be crazy to call him Beaumont?
I think I’m sold on the meaning beautiful mountain…but for him to be called Monty as a nn.

You couldn't call him Beaumont in Dublin because it's a hospital.

Mumofgirls2017 · 26/12/2021 08:42

I love it! I think it sounds less pretentious than the others too

ifeelabitsad · 26/12/2021 08:49

Just have Monty.

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 26/12/2021 10:34

I think it’s sounds really pretentious or will get sniggers from other kids when the register is called out.

Also, if you don’t love it, maybe it’s not the right name?

Bluntness100 · 26/12/2021 10:36

I know someone whose house is called Beaumont.

Monty is fine and makes me think of monty don.

Beaumont is awful

See, I think it is more pretentious, because it isn’t a name so it sounds so contrived.
PanicBuyingSprouts · 26/12/2021 12:37

I'm going against the grain as I actually quite like it.

BrutusMcDogface · 26/12/2021 12:40

I think it’s ok, however take it from me and don’t call your son a name you don’t love!!

What names do you like?

NumaNumaYay · 26/12/2021 12:41

He'll end up with his mates calling him "Bomes" or something

Cas112 · 26/12/2021 12:43

I like it!

VitalsStable · 26/12/2021 12:45

Monty is cute, Beau is delightfully chavvy and you won't be able to dictate what people choose to call him so you might get the chavvy one.

I do agree with that actually. DD has a bit of an unusual name and I wouldn't have given it to her if I hadn't absolutely loved it, especially as some people had a bit of an odd reaction to it. It's not even that out there.

huuskymam · 26/12/2021 12:48

I like Monty. Beaumont is an area in Dublin, its the first think I thought of when I read the name.

Robyn789 · 26/12/2021 20:28

Thank you everyone for your comments. He won’t be a Beaumont. Still not convinced on Monty either.
I can’t find any names I love that my partner agrees with. And his top few names I like but don’t love.

We agreed on our daughters name so easily but are really struggling with our boy!
And I think I’ve looked at every name list possible 🙈

I like Beaumont and I normally hate that kind of thing

DisforDarkChocolate · 26/12/2021 21:24

Monty - dogs name for me.
Beaumont - Street name near me.

lisaandalan · 26/12/2021 21:29

I prefer Monty x

Gensola · 26/12/2021 21:45

My beloved cat is called Monty Grin

Cleo8245 · 26/12/2021 23:29

I like it!

SoonbeSpringtime · 26/12/2021 23:37

Geri Halliwell’s son is Montague.

Mintyt · 27/12/2021 10:16

I love it

user1493494961 · 27/12/2021 18:59

Just call him Monty, I doubt he will ever use the name Beaumont (it's ridiculous).

scrivette · 27/12/2021 19:03

I like it but wouldn't want it shortened to Beau. I know a couple of little Monty's (full name) and think it's lovely.

Totalwasteofpaper · 27/12/2021 21:37

Surprisingly (to myself) I like Beaumont

Minorissue · 27/12/2021 21:53

Prefer Monty and think it’s quite a nice name, but then again I watch a lot of Gardener’s World.
