Ok I apologise for the use of bonkers- I do however maintain that Seb is quite an obvious nickname no matter what your accent.

KirstenBlest · 23/12/2021 09:39

It's the obvious nn, isn't it, @WheelieBinPrincess

Ifeellikedancing · 23/12/2021 09:47

This was my first choice for a boy. DP didn't like it though, I was gutted.

SummerLew · 24/12/2021 19:40

My son's best friend is Sebastien and he is the sweetest boy. We sometimes call him Sebby. I love the name because of him

Goldandguns · 24/12/2021 20:00

I knew a Sebastian in primary school and always went by the full name. Had a shift manager a few years back who went by Seba. I think Sebastian is a lovely name, not too keen on the nicknames for it though.

Fallible · 24/12/2021 20:03

I know one in his 30s and one who is 5. I really like it! Hate hate hate people shortening to Sebby though.

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 25/12/2021 00:22

I really like the name. Know a couple of guys now in their late 40s who are called Sebastian. One known as Seb and the other (who was very handsome in his 20s!) Baz. Baz is very posh.

Kanaloa · 25/12/2021 00:29

I used to look after one who was called Sebby. I think he would be about 7 or 8 now. That’s the only one I’ve met.

It’s a nice name.

LittleMrsMama · 02/10/2022 12:56

Thanks for all the comments and support. DH is over the moon that Sebastian seems to be the favourite. I’m coming around to it too and now thinking the alliteration with B surname for Barnaby would be too much after a few of you have said it.

Now to try and keep it for the next month, I’m forever changing my mind! I loved Hugo for a while but gone off it now

LittleMrsMama · 02/10/2022 12:57

Sorry the wrong thread! facepalm

Bideshi · 02/10/2022 14:17

Got a grandson, aged 10. Delighted when I first heard his name. It's lovely. Sometimes he's Seb and sometimes he's Sebastian. Not all families use nicknames.

Shelby1981 · 02/10/2022 14:18

We have a 6 year old Sebastian 😁

VickerishAllsort · 02/10/2022 18:01

A lone voice here: I hate it. The full Sebastian sounds pretentious to me and if I hear Seb my brain adds acious cyst.

FayCarew · 02/10/2022 18:50

You are not alone Vic. I think of the Little Britain character.

Babyitstimetomoveon · 02/10/2022 18:56

I wanted to use Seb for ds but dp overruled me.

Keroppi · 02/10/2022 19:05

I like Sebastian nn Bash! Cute.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/10/2022 19:07

Quite a few

It used to be seen as v posh, now more standard. I quite like it.

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 09/10/2022 10:31

I used to know a very posh one. He'd be about fifty now. He was very handsome and was known as Baz.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 10/10/2022 07:41

I love it but I couldn’t persuade DH, who had encountered too many arrogant Sebs at university.

dalisdrippingclock · 10/10/2022 07:47

Lots of little Sebs around here. It's a cute name but not at all usual (if that's what you are after) I'm in North London.

Lilacsunflowers · 10/10/2022 08:17

Sebastian is ok, but Seb sounds so unfinished and soft/oily (sebaceous).
