Is it traditional? Classic? Timeless? Or Trendy? Fashionable? Popular? I really like it, Josh day to day and it's currently front runner for our February baby but would like to gather opinions please.

I think it's a wonderful name. It's not overly popular now, so he may be one of few Joshua's in his year group.

It's classic and strong. It's not dated. It's a classic biblical name. Same way Sarah and Adam are.

Fl0w3ry · 06/01/2022 22:55

My all-time favourite boys name.

floppybit · 06/01/2022 22:55

Great choice

nocoolnamesleft · 06/01/2022 23:01

I like it. I'd call it timeless. I wouldn't be able to guess how old a Joshua was.

StopStartStop · 06/01/2022 23:05

Great name. I've just been chasing 7xgt grandads called Joshua around Ancestry.

wingingit33 · 07/01/2022 10:57

Thank you! Little Josh, so excited to meet him next month Smile

Lovely and classic

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/01/2022 10:59

Nice.

But it always makes me think of Rachel in Friends

"Josh Ooo Waaa. Joshua"

KimDeals · 07/01/2022 11:09

The Joshua Tree
Was good enough for U2

onedayoranother · 07/01/2022 11:21

Ooo I had a major crush on a Joshua at school! It's a traditional biblical Jewish name - he succeeded Moses in taking the Jews to the promised land! Can't get a better pedigree than that!

wingingit33 · 07/01/2022 15:24

@onedayoranother can I use it if we're not Jewish?

I'm not Jewish and I've used it.

Shutupyoutart · 07/01/2022 16:28

wingingit33 · 11/01/2022 10:56

Smile now for a middle name!

My eldest is called Joshua, and when we named him we had never heard of any others with that name. Within 3 years there seemed to be loads, including 2 friends who liked it because we had named ours. We always called him Joshua but he is definitely Josh now he is an adult. I still really love the name and say , if you love it too, then go for it.

Love Joshua. What does you surname begin with, is it long or short?
wingingit33 · 11/01/2022 20:40

@rambleonplease surname is E-three syllables

I love it. Just makes me picture Rachel in friends swooning and saying Josh-ooa 🤣

34and3 · 06/11/2022 14:25

Love love it! My little Joshua / Josh is 8 months. When we registered him it was no1 in our borough and varying positions within the top six over the past few years! Still though, I don't know another under 5 and will be interested to see if he'll have any in his class.

Jamimas · 06/11/2022 16:01

@34and3 why are resurrecting an almost 2 year old thread? Op's son is probably named by now!

imnotwhoyouthinkiam · 06/11/2022 16:09

Dec 2021 isn't nearly 2 years ago Confused
In fact OP said baby was due in Feb, so only 7/8 months ago.
Admittedly he's still presumably named already but thread is not 2 years old.

Jamimas · 06/11/2022 16:37

Sorry I misread it as Dec 2020

Topseyt123 · 06/11/2022 16:41

It's a lovely, strong, classic and timeless boy's name. Go for it.

Gummibär · 06/11/2022 17:44
