Blush wrong thread.

Madeleine - great, especially if you like the nn Maddie
Imogen - my gut says this one is getting popular, so depends on whether or not that bothers you
Arwen - unique but not weird; I like it
Esther - personally not a fan of this one
Tess - cute and spunky
Sabrina - only makes me think of the teenage witch

Congratulations!!!

HWHWHWFG · 06/12/2021 21:46

Madeleine - lovely
Imogen - it’s nice
Arwen - dislike
Esther - really dislike
Tess - boring
Sabrina - nice but I think about Sabrina the Teenage Witch every time I hear it

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/12/2021 21:55

I quite like all your list, including Arwen! - it sounds close enough to Welsh Anwen that it's not "out there" to me.

Esther is probably my least favourite (it just sounds a bit too strongly Biblical for my own personal taste) and Tess my favourite - imo it has a romantic/poetic feel like Arwen but better known and I think it's likely transcended "nn status" to a name in it's own right thanks to Tess of the D'Urbervilles (although I think she was "really" a Teresa and I like that too).

Imogen would probably be my second/third choice (after Tess and maybe Arwen) but it is a bit more popular now and whilst I love the full elegant Madeleine, the nn Maddie puts me off.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/12/2021 21:57

Forgot Sabrina! - uncommon and elegant but my fourth choice as I personally prefer similar Greek Selene/Selena

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 07/12/2021 14:30

Tess best of a bad bunch I'd say

ofwarren · 07/12/2021 14:33

Not very helpful, but I like them all ☺️

RestingStitchFace · 07/12/2021 17:17

Arwen is my favourite. (Have you considered Anwen? Also lovely.)

Madeleine is ok. Less keen on Sabrina and Imogen. Cannot even begin to sum up how much I hate the name Esther.

FlamingoDust · 07/12/2021 18:05

Love Sabrina and really like Tess (Prefer Tessa)

MrsBertBibby · 08/12/2021 08:52

Madeleine bit dull nice enough
Imogen good
Arwen no.
Esther gorgeous
Tess OK but a bit plain and nick-namey and I dislike Theresa
Sabrina no, I think it's ugly.

hivemindneeded · 08/12/2021 09:03

I LOVE Esther. What a beautiful, elegant name. Tess could be a nice nickname for it. Or Essie, which is also lovely.

CaffiSaliMali · 08/12/2021 09:31

Tess or Sabrina for me. Tesni is very high on my list with Tess/Tessa as a nickname. Tesni is a Welsh name meaning 'the warmth from the sun', pronounced Tess-nee.

Sabrina was high on my list but sadly DH doesn't like it.

Madeleine is nice.
Imogen and Esther aren't to my taste but there's nothing wrong with either name.

Arwen is lovely but very LOTR and quite topical with the storm, although we're already on the next storm now! Anwen (Ann-when) is a Welsh girls name with a similar feel.

I would go with Sabrina from your list.

Leeloo1233 · 08/12/2021 11:43

Madeleine - this still makes me think of Madeleine McCain so much, otherwise I love it and the nick name Maddie,

Imogen - this is so beautiful, but a bit difficult to pronounce internationally (if that's an issue)

Arwen - very lord of the rings, otherwise gorgeous

Esther - beautiful, but a bit religious?

Tess - really nice. Popular in Europe e.g the Nertherlands etc

Sabrina - I feel like this will make a comeback soon, so you might be ahead of your time! Sabrina was an Audrey Hepburn movie

halloweenie13 · 11/12/2021 00:20

Madeleine - not keen
Imogen - ok
Arwen - different but doesn't sound great
Esther - no
Tess -no
Sabrina - ok

DramaAlpaca · 11/12/2021 00:24

Late to the thread, but that's a very nice list.

Yes to Tess being a diminutive for Esther, I've come across this a couple of times.

I love Arwen, but I'm a huge LOTR fan Smile

SequinsandStiIettos · 11/12/2021 00:29

My favourite is Imogen with Arwen as a middle name
I also like Tess on its own
Prefer Marina or Savanna(h) to Sabrina
