Hi All I’m really struggling with a name for my baby who’s due really soon!
We originally liked Arabella however I don’t like the name Bella and am certain it will get shortened to this a lot so it’s really putting me off. I’ve considered Arabelle but feel like when you say it you aren’t finished. We then considered Cali but my son insists on saying Cali Ali (he’s 4) and I really don’t like the thought of her getting this as a nickname.
I then thought of Calibelle which I’ve since discovered seems to be completely made up and also sounds made up Confused
Arghhh I’m just so confused right now and not where I want to be at 38+ weeks!
Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

From the names you’re saying you like I’m thinking more along the lines of Morgan, Avery, Blake, Sawyer, Briar?

Are you Uk or US based?

FindingFlorestan · 05/12/2021 17:56

Callista.

OnTheHillNotOverIt · 05/12/2021 18:02

Callista Pearl
Calisto Pearl
Calliope Pearl
Calypso Pearl

Pearl Arabella

@miltonj thanks but Ari is definitely something I want to avoid so that’s almost reaffirmed a reason not to go with it

@OnTheHillNotOverIt thank you for all the suggestions if we choose Cali it won’t be a shortened version of something it’ll just be Cali.

I was similar when choosing a name so I made my daughters name double barrelled instead. Her name is Lilah-Belle .. my thought process was she could shorten to Lilah if she didn't like the full name but she is currently 5 and tells everyone her name is Lilah-Belle. You could do the same with Callie ... Callie-Belle xx

@leanne2439

They are all names used for both but I definitely intended them as girls names- especially Briar as that’s sleeping beauty’s name!
Oakley is being used as a unisex name too though more common for boys.

What about Myla/Mila, Darcy, Robyn, Skye?

For Cali, I’d spell it Callie. Callie is it’s own name, whereas Cali seems like a shortening.

Hoowhoowho · 06/12/2021 00:35

How about Amabel, unlike Arabella/belle there really isn’t any other shortening but Belle, old, traditional nice meaning, rare and goes well with Pearl.

DoucheCanoe · 06/12/2021 01:05

How about:
Carys Pearl
Hanna Pearl
Orla Pearl
Xanthe Pearl
Raya Pearl

Enough4me · 06/12/2021 01:24

Clara Pearl
Isabelle Pearl
Lauren Pearl
Arianna Pearl

SE13Mummy · 06/12/2021 01:26

If you're not keen on Ari or Bella, I don't think Arabella is the right name for your DD!

How about Annabel? Or Mabel?

Buddhabowl · 07/12/2021 19:21

I think Paisley Pearl sounds lovely

CasparsWineBar · 07/12/2021 19:28

How about Calla?

It's a type of lily. So not made up!

LittleGwyneth · 10/12/2021 12:47

What about Annabelle/ Anabelle/ Annabel?

groovergirl · 10/12/2021 12:59

Or Avenel or Avalon?

toastofthetown · 10/12/2021 13:05

Maybe a bit out there, but would Bluebell work for you? Oakley has a nature feel which obviously Bluebell also does. Appreciate it might be polarising though.

LozMarieFielder · 11/12/2021 09:03

How about:
Araminta
Arielle / Ariella
Arlette
Aranza
Arcadia

Calista is also a good option mentioned by a previous poster. Also making up names isn’t a bad idea either.

wingsofabird · 11/12/2021 19:48

Audrey
Aubrey

wingsofabird · 11/12/2021 19:49

Jemima

christmascook · 11/12/2021 20:08

Willow would be nice with Oakley?

Ariana instead of Arabella, stepping away from Bella but sounds similar

MerryMarigold · 11/12/2021 20:39

I love Bluebell. What a great idea!
