I am a mother to a 7yr old daughter named Poppie-Maria and a 6yr old son Kayne. I am almost 7 months pregnant with my third child a beautiful baby daughter which I have chosen to name Blaise-Elizabeth. I really love the name and so do both my other children but haven't really had the best reaction from anyone else that I've told. I've had a few funny looks and comments such as it being a boys name and also been told outright that it's a terrible name and cruel to call a baby girl Blaise. Now I'm second guessing if I should stick to a name that I love and defend my choice or if I should let the opion of others change my mind.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Blair is VERY definitely a boys' name, and a surname. Apart from in the US perhaps where boys' names are regularly used by girls. I know several and all are male.

Good luck with your daughter OP.

so not VERY definitely just a boys' name then...

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches still very definitely a boys' name. It's a truth universally acknowledged that those in the US have no taste in such things and behave very oddly as far as naming their offspring goes Grin

The only time I've heard the name Blaise was for a girl and thought it was lovely. I'm shocked to hear it's a boy's name!

Same with Blair, only known it on a girl and thought it's very pretty.

I've only ever known of one person named Blaise and it's an elderly woman in her late 60's. It is a very rare name and I'm expecting a lot of raised eyebrows but I personally think it's a lovely name for a girl
