Sibling for David and Charlotte

We are looking for a boys name and really like Benjamin (Ben). I didn’t even know it was an OT name so now worry it might be too religious with David. Any thoughts?

Ideas for other classic names that could go well with David and Charlotte?

Love Benjamin and think it goes beautifully with your other children’s names.
Other ideas
Nathaniel
Henry
Matthew
Nicholas
Robert

Samuel
Joseph

But probably not very helpful!
I think they sound traditional names not religious.

Thomas

It's not religious if you're not picking it because it's an OT name.

Lots of the names that go with David and Charlotte are going to be biblical just because they're more classical names.

How about Theodore?

Edward
Luke
George
James

I think Ben is perfect.

Otherwise I’d choose jonathon or matthew

What is an OT name? I think Benjamin is lovely

Love it, and no need to think of biblical reference. You would have to rule out an awful lot of names if taking that into consideration.
I also love Jonathan, which would go well with your other two names (and is the third child I never had!)

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 16/11/2021 12:45

I think Benjamin would be perfect with your other children's names.

Alexander would be another, less biblical, possiblity. But I think go for Benjamin if you love it!

MyCatHatesWhiskas · 16/11/2021 12:57

Edward was my first thought. But again, go for Benjamin if you love it!

Or how about Lucas or Hugo?

Peter
Timothy
Marcus
Daniel
Edward
Thomas
Gregory
Christopher
Jonathan
Philip

Thank you for all the suggestions. So many great names but unfortunately I cannot use many of my favourites (Thomas, Marcus, Lucas, Matthew, Nicolas) since they are already used by family or close friends. I’d also like to mention that I live in a French speaking country so some names such as James and Luke (which I like alot) don’t really work here. We also wanted names that didn’t change in spelling from English and French (such as Jean vs John, Michel vs Michael, etc.). We also didn’t want names where they would be one of many in their class but I realize that these names are quite popular in North America and Australia. Benjamin and David were very common and popular in our country in the 80s but are now completely unpopular/rare at the moment, including Charlotte.

I don't think it sounds religious. They are traditional names and no more religious sounding than Sarah, Rebecca, Mark, Luke etc. It's not like you're suggesting Obadiah or Isaiah or something. I wouldn't worry at all if you like it.

Kanaloa · 16/11/2021 14:24

As a pp said I think it’s fine because they’re well known traditional names. I don’t think they sound overly religious. Also, David, Charlotte & Benjamin is just lovely together. Like a pp suggestion of Samuel too!

BingBongToTheMoon · 16/11/2021 14:30

I don’t see anything wrong with Benjamin.

SallyWD · 17/11/2021 14:51

I'd go for Benjamin. If I met a David, Charlotte and Ben it wouldn't cross my mind for a minute that these were religious names. I like the fact they're classic but not trendy names at the moment.
