Would love to get your opinions on these names. Sure name is two syllables R name.

Annie Clare for a girl. Annie would be the name we go by but would probably be Annabelle officially - so Annabelle Clare.

Luther James for a boy.

Open to any other suggestions/ similar style names!!!

Also like Max?

But would probably then want 2 syllable middle name.

Max Graham ?

My only issue is that 'Annie Clare' sounds like 'an eclair'. Of course, if her full name is Annabelle Clare then it's not so much of a problem.

Luther James is lovely, and I also like Max. I'm not sure if 'Max Graham' flows that well. Max Luther works well in my opinion.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 06/11/2021 20:24

Annabel Clare is nice (I personally prefer this less frilly English/Scottish spelling). Annie Clare does sound like "An Eclair" but most people won't know the middle name so it probably doesn't matter.

I much prefer Max to Luther (I always think of Luther as more of a surname). Max Graham or Max Luther sounds fine to me.

Yeah I had thought of the 'an eclair' thing. Wanted to see if anyone else picked up on it. Not sure how much it bothers me. My heart is set on Clare as a middle name so perhaps it's back to the drawing board for girls names!

Max Luther is nice

My only thing is that I think I want the middle name to 'mean something' - like a family name.

Luther is actually my great grandfathers name, but I never met him.

Think I would rather the middle name be one of my living relatives as I know how much it would mean to them!

How do we think Max Arno flows? Is Arno a rogue choice? It's German

Dont do Annie Clair an eclair for sure. How about Lucy Clare? What other sorts of girls names do you like then MN can suggest more.

I like Luther. Luther James, Luther Max and Max Luther are nice or why not James Luther. But Max Arno is a no from me because if you say it aloud it sounds like all one word Maxarno. Arno Max is less bad but really Arno is going to have that problem a lot as a second name I think, although you could go for something like William Arno.

Max Arno is great!

Prefer Anna to Annie on the BC. Anna Clare is less suggestive of patisserie, I think?

KILNAMATRA · 06/11/2021 22:31

I’m not a fan of Luther.. too close to Lucifer for me.. I’d worry bout the school yard .. Lyndon is lovely as are all the others..

MollysDolly · 06/11/2021 22:33

Max can be Maxwell, to then flow better with a middle name.

I love both your choices though

I see Anna as just a bit boring. Thing Annie has more of a fun ring to it.

Annie Margaret might be an option

Pippa Margaret is lovely. And Rory David.

Poetrypatty · 06/11/2021 22:41

What about Annie Louise? that would be good.

1997Babyx · 06/11/2021 22:49

Think Pippa Margaret might be one of the top contenders

Not Max Arno. As has been said, it sounds like one word, but not in a good way.
Generally, I wouldn't worry too much about names 'going' as your middle name is only really spoken out loud at your Christening, graduation and wedding, but that just sounds wrong.

Out of your girls choices, Annie is by far and away the best. I do hear the 'An eclair' though if you go with that middle name, so I'd choose Annie Margaret.

Boys list I like Max and Rory.
Don't like Luther at all.

potoforchids · 07/11/2021 10:48

I prefer Annabel to Annabelle as well.

If her full name is Annabel Clare then it's not Annie Clare, if you see what I mean? In my experience people don't use the nickname and middle name together - if the middle name is being used, then most likely the full first name will be too.

17caterpillars1mouse · 08/11/2021 14:07

Love Annie Clare (though I prefer Claire) and love Annabel (this spelling, Annabelle seems too frilly princess to me)

I really like Luther James. Really really like it, but I imagine many would see Luther as a bold choice after the popularity of the TV show (as brilliant as it was)

Clare is the spelling of my mums name, so would definitely be Clare. And I prefer I suppose from seeing my mums name spelt that way! I also really like Luther james. I think we are decided on that now

I'm an almost 50 year old Anna Claire and yes, the old 'An eclair' joke is now wearing thin ! LOL!

MrsCardone · 10/11/2021 09:55

Annie Delilah.
Luther Max.

WashableVelvet · 10/11/2021 09:58

I love Luther, but here (SE/London) it would be pronounced Loofah, which I think is a shame

MollysDolly · 10/11/2021 10:28

Ooooh Annie Delilah is lovely

toastofthetown · 10/11/2021 11:25

If the full name is Annabelle, I don't think the eclair thing is an issue. If a middle name is used it's almost always with the full first name. Have you considered adding a middle name? Annabelle Margaret Clare sound good, and separates Annie and Clare.

On a separate point, I'd avoid Pippa a full name. It means blowjob in several European languages. Not the biggest problem, especially if you don't live there or plan to, but still that would be enough to scratch it for me.

I hadn't thought about two middle names. Annabel Margaret Clare is lovely!

Didn't know that about Pippa - definitely puts me off!!
