Francesca or Zara?

DS (age 3) is Matthew and Baby 2 is due in a few weeks. We think we have a boys name that feels right but we are trying to settle on a girls name.

We think we're down to Francesca or Zara.
Which would you go for?

Other girls names that have been on the list but that we think we are less keen on have been Elodie, Edith, Clara and Nancy.

Francesca!

Zara does make me think of the shitty Spanish clothes chain that kept sneakily overcharging me as a student.

😂😂 I hadn't made that association but it's made me laugh! Doesn't put me off though

Good choices as I love both! My favourite is Zara as a standalone but alongside your DS as a sibling name I think Francesca and Matthew pair best as they both have a few nn options unlike Zara which is short. Not that you have to follow a pattern though as I say both are great choices.

I vastly prefer Zahra to Zara. Just my 2c, it's much more visually appealing.

I love Francesca and Fran for short. Zara just makes me think of the shop.

For both mine we had a front runner for a boy but a choice of names for a girl.

I really like both but think I'd choose Zara.

Francesca is a very pretty name but not a fan of any of the diminutives.

A mix of preference then (as to be expected) but it seems that the general consensus is that either would do and neither is absolutely awful. So that's good 

I imagine we'll do what @Twizbe suggests and wait until baby is here to make a final decision as that's what we did with DS.
We had 2 final front runners for a boy but when he arrived Matthew just felt right.

I love both I have a Zara,but I think it depends on the surname. Mine at the time was a long double barrel one,hence the choice

Zara is lovely. I also like Lara...

I love Zara (was voted down by DH for dd2). One of the reasons I liked it was it doesn't get shortened. With Francesca, it depends if you like Fran or Frannie (I personally am less keen on these than the actual name) because even if you don't shorten it others will.

Francesca is nice but too long and I don't like Ches as a nn
Zara - nice
Elodie - nice in french, meh Ellie name otherwise
Edith and Clara are frumpy

Long tradition like Matthew. I don’t mind Zara but it’s a bit lightweight. Clara and Edith also great.
