This weekend, not so dh said that seeing the scan made him realise this baby is a real person 🙄 and as a real person can't possibly have the name Mabli.
He's suggested really boring names which I won't put here for fear of causing offence.
I never knew he was so conventional. I'm afraid I overreacted and cried. We spent the rest of the weekend hurling names at each other, his getting increasingly safer and mine wilder.
What would you consider middle ground?
I'm still very fed up about Mabli but I suppose it can be a pets name. 🤔

I honestly think that if he likes Belinda and you like Mabli, Mabel is a great compromise. Its obviously a bit more popular than either of your choices, not sure if that bothers you.

I like Mabli (sorry, not helpful).

I remember that when I was pregnant, other people's suggestions made me unreasonably irritated. I think it was because they'd had their turn to name a child and now, even if I liked their suggestions, I would feel as though they had named my child.

I love Hilary and Belinda, and don't like Mabli. But I'd be beyond pissed if my partner changed his mind because of his Mummy! Definitely don't discuss it with anyone except each other! She had her chance to name her baby. Rude.

Someone suggesting Hilary would make most people cry... or throw something.
From now on agree not to discuss names with others but maybe leave any discussions for a few days if baby is not already here

Mabli could be used as a second name or also as a nickname. I think both of you need to try hard to meet in the middle. Maybe if you can come to an agreement where one chooses the first name and the other the second name or something like that. Hope you two can come to a good compromise and find names you both like. Maybe he the first name and you the second name or both have something completely different, and Mabli can be the nickname? All the best in your decisions. :)

OP, putting something safe and conventional as the middle name might be your best option. Especially given your baby will be a grown woman one day. Think of the business woman she will be in thirty years rather than the babe in arms.
