This has been quite an ordeal for us, but we have it down to 2...

Felix or Hector

Which would you pick and why?

Thanks!

Felix

alpinerain · 23/10/2021 07:50

I'm no help because I really like both and can't decide.Grin Great choice either way!

AutumnLeafy · 23/10/2021 07:52

Felix if I really had to pick one.

PurplePizzaCake · 23/10/2021 07:56

Hector. But both are great

MerryMarigold · 23/10/2021 07:58

I think of Hector as a posh name. Felix a bit less so and I love the meaning of Felix. I think be Dominic is in this vein.

theremustonlybeone · 23/10/2021 08:00

Don’t like hector - old work colleague was called hector and he was an awful person. Felix I associate with cats but it’s preferable to hector

bloominglovelyorange · 23/10/2021 08:02

Felix is gorgeous

Hector I don't like. Hate the initial Hec sound in it

EnidFrighten · 23/10/2021 08:03

Felix. I like the sound of Hector but you'd have a lot of eye rolling from old ladies! I like Victor too.

Darceyhemingway · 23/10/2021 08:13

These were both on my list I love them. Hector is way more unusual but a great name. Felix is great but the more safe out of the 2. Both great choices. If he's not born yet try him out with both?

HonorHiding · 23/10/2021 08:20

Felix! The two I know are easily distinguishable from cats.

Diggersandloaders · 23/10/2021 08:48

Hector seems very marmite! I agree that Heck is not a great nn... I think we'd try to encourage Tor instead. Felix has a bit of a lack of nn potential, though something can always evolve I'm sure!

Baby is actually already here and our hope that we would know what to call him didn't work out! Doh!

Please do keep your thoughts coming. It really helps me.

How about Fergus, nn Gus?

Cantstopthewaves · 23/10/2021 09:02

Congratulations on baby!

Neither names are to my taste but of the two I prefer Felix.
It does have cat connotations but then Hector reminds me of a tractor/farmer so Confused

Adventing · 23/10/2021 09:03

Felix, I like the meaning. I've met a cute little Hector too though

Bartlebe · 23/10/2021 09:09

Hector!

PanicBuyingSprouts · 23/10/2021 09:33

I think I prefer Felix Smile

hopingforabrighterfuture2021 · 23/10/2021 11:06

Hector

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/10/2021 11:10

Tor is a lovely nn.

The Felix we know is Feelie which I don’t like at all.

User310 · 23/10/2021 11:18

Hector.

WinterCarlisle · 23/10/2021 11:20

Felix. It sounds sooooo much nicer than Hector (imo).

Hector is cold and hector as a verb means to browbeat or bully

MaggieFS · 23/10/2021 11:30

Hector.

You asked why.... I wouldn't choose either but Felix is cat food. Hector is a good strong name.

Shortandsweet20 · 23/10/2021 11:47

Not a massive fan of either but probably felix over hector. I know 7 dogs and 1 tortoise all named hector 😂 lovely name but I just see it as a animal name

Bin85 · 23/10/2021 14:23

Hector is the dog in Hector's House children's programme.
Felix is better I taught a lovely one.

NCkitchen · 23/10/2021 14:25

Definitely not Felix (cat)

Not a fan of Hector either but I dislike this one less

SirChenjins · 23/10/2021 14:28

Neither - Felix is a cat’s/cat’s food name and Hector is up there with Cyril and Dennis in unattractiveness (as well as being a verb you wouldn’t want your child to be associated with).

Felix - at an absolute push.
