Isabel is beautiful but it might be worth looking at the recent ONS release on baby names. With all of the different spellings it is very popular, don't know if that would bother you though?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/10/2021 22:09

Quincy... I like the actual sound but it’s quincy a type of illness.
Willow. Gorgeous
Rio. Okay
Effie. Awful
Isobel. gorgeous but I prefer the spelling Isabelle.

Chiara. Can’t comment as I don’t know how is pronounced.
Is it Chee-ahra. Kee-Ahra. Chy-ra. Kee-ra.
Ky-ra. Confused
Taya. Okay

BubbleCoffee · 19/10/2021 22:56

Quincy - too similar to quinsy (disease)
Willow - lovely
Rio - Duran Duran
Effie - too similar to effing...
Isabel - lovely, timeless, popular for a reason
Chiara - really nice, unusual too
Taya - not keen

daisypond · 19/10/2021 23:04

I like Chiara and Isabel. Nice classic names, though Isabel is quite popular now. None of the others, really.

girlmama86 · 19/10/2021 23:14

Effie and Isobel are lovely, not keen on the others. Like pp have said, quinsy is an illness.

PricklesTheHedgehog · 19/10/2021 23:17

Quincy - no
Willow - yes
Rio - no
Effie - sounds like someone swearing
Isabel - yes
Chiara - yes
Taya - no

proopher · 19/10/2021 23:32

Quincy - awful
Willow - lovely
Rio - don't like
Effie - like, but as a nickname for something eg Euphemia
Isabel - lovely
Chiara - okay
Taya - not sure how to pronounce, Tay-a or Ty-a?

Namechangedforthethousandthtim · 20/10/2021 00:18

I love Effie, but as a nickname for Josephine.

Chiara and Isabel are also lovely.

alpinerain · 20/10/2021 03:12

Quincy - I like it on a boy better
Willow - Beautiful
Rio - Love it for a boy but not for a girl
Effie - Really dislike
Isabel - Such a beautiful name and I love this spelling. Only downside is that it's very popular
Chiara - Not sure how to pronounce it but I'm not from the UK so that might be why
Taya - Beautiful yet uncommon. I love it

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 20/10/2021 04:47

Chiara is the best and I like Rio but it's a boys name I reckon

danascully96 · 20/10/2021 05:42

My favs are Willow and Isabel (also like the Isobel spelling).

Chachachawoo · 20/10/2021 06:55

Willow or Isobel (like pp also prefer this spelling)
Really don't like quincy or Effie

user1493494961 · 20/10/2021 09:59

I like Isabel (prefer this spelling) but don't like any of the others.

KirstenBlest · 20/10/2021 10:54

Quincy - is it an illness?
Willow - ok
Rio - Ferdinand
Effie - effin' awful
Isabel - overused
Chiara - spelling and pronunciation will cause issues
Taya - seems a bit made up

Cantstopthewaves · 20/10/2021 10:56

Love Isabel but prefer Isabelle spelling with Belle as everyday name.

Maireas · 20/10/2021 12:46

Isobel is nice, but really common - it depends if that's a factor for you.
Please not Quincy. Or Effie.

emmathedilemma · 20/10/2021 13:11

That's an interesting mix!
Quincy - just no
Willow - ok
Rio - her name is Rio......no.....
Effie - i think this needs to be a nn not a fullname
Isabel - nice and normal compared to the others, but possibly too normal
Chiara - no idea how to pronounce this.
Taya - ok but a bit chavy

KirstenBlest · 20/10/2021 13:23

@emmathedilemma, Chiara is Kee-AH-ra, it's italian meaning clear or light I think. Likely to get mixed up with Ciara (Kee-ra)

Maui69 · 20/10/2021 13:26

Willow and Isabel are nice although I do prefer the spelling Isabelle. I don't like the others.

Buttons294749 · 20/10/2021 13:27

Chiara is lovely
The rest not so much

LouLion · 20/10/2021 14:42

Quincy - nope, maybe Quinn, but not hugely keen
Willow - lovely, but popular
Rio - would assume a boys' name, not keen on it for a girl, feels quite 80s
Effie - no, insubstantial, sounds a bit sweary
Isabel - like, prefer Isobel, but again very popular, if that bothers you
Chiara - dislike look of it, pronunciation issues too
Taya - not keen, looks like Tanya, spelt incorrectly

emmathedilemma · 20/10/2021 14:43

That's what I wondered @KirstenBlest as I know people called Ciara who always get it pronounced wrong! Chiara sounds a bit too much like Kia-ora but maybe the OP isn't old enough to remember the annoying adverts!

TheSandgroper · 20/10/2021 18:48

Effie. m.youtube.com/watch?v=e-1ERq7pqPw

KirstenBlest · 20/10/2021 18:51

Ciara often looks like Clara when printed.

Chiara - I think some would say Tchee-ah-ra or Chaira

A name with a not obvious pronunciation can be tricky - people will say it the way it looks to them. Not everyone is familiar with more than one language. Some people are not good at spelling so would write Hariett, Francis for Frances, Louis for Louise etc

The illness is Quinsy

RestingStitchFace · 20/10/2021 18:56

Willow is lovely. Isabel is OK. Not keen on the rest.
