Which name should we pick?

Two weeks left until due date and still undecided on a name...

We're trying to pick between:

Leo
Max (or Maxwell)
Jude
Lucas

Middle name will be Alexander.

Which name should we go for?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
@Datsandcogs I like Isaac but it has been vetoed by my husband!
Knew there was a reason I was single!

Datsandcogs · 06/10/2021 20:58

OK, still love Alexander, what about Zand as a nickname?

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 20:58

@DotBall thanks for this - I'm worried Maxwell is a bit too unusual as I've never met one but now I'm feeling more reassured about it.

Max and Alex don’t go well together

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 20:59

@Datsandcogs No, I just can't make myself like any of the potential nicknames unfortunately. A shame as it's a lovely name! I'm a teacher and have taught so many Alexanders which puts me off a bit too.

Ahhhh - It depends what area you are based Maxwell, coffee to me!!

Also, hate to be that cliche person but honestly call him them all for a few hours. You will know when his name fits Grin

Our two youngest were called different names for a few hours and we started calling them another name and it just felt ‘normal’ .

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 21:00

@Cocopogo yes I did wonder about this but thought if his full name was Maxwell it would sound a bit better.

@PunishmentSnart Haha yes! There is the coffee link!

We tried that with our son and got a bit fed up with people nagging us to find out what his name was. I found it really hard to decide on his name when we were both so exhausted after labour, so would love to feel a bit clearer this time around.

Ha, another teacher here! I think it’s makes naming soooo very much harder, so many pupil associations!!

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 21:05

@Datsandcogs Yes it makes it sooo tricky! Leo was my absolute favourite name but I've just started teaching a really naughty Leo which has put me off!

Edward is a lovely name and with the nn Teddy sounds like he is a little scamp (in a good way).

We loved Theodore for our Ds3 (Teddy nn) but when he came along it just wasn’t him. Still love the name!

You need a similar name with a cute nn….

DotDotDotDotDot · 06/10/2021 21:07

Leo is my favourite, although it’s very popular.
Lucas Alexander would be my choice.
Good luck, you can’t go too wrong with your list.

PunishmentSnart · 06/10/2021 21:08

Dont tell people you’re in labour and give yourself a bit of breathing space.

Or tell them a really shit name, like Boris, after the PM and then a new name will be thoroughly welcomed once you actually decide Grin

PlanetTeaTime · 06/10/2021 21:13

I like Leo and Jude

lda6134 · 06/10/2021 21:13

@lgfh07 Maxwell all the way!!

lda6134 · 06/10/2021 21:14

Gin Maxwell is nice.

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 21:24

@PunishmentSnart I loved Theodore too for Ds1! I agree - something similar with a cute nickname would be perfect. Have struggled to think of something which works.

I think keeping labour secret is a great idea. I also love the idea of giving a false name to start with haha!

I like all of them except Maxwell, but I do like Max.

lifecoachingandotherbollocks · 06/10/2021 21:28

Jude or Maximillion

PunishmentSnart · 06/10/2021 21:28

Philip- nn ‘Pip’??

BrownEyedSquirrel · 06/10/2021 21:32

I believe Leo was one of the most popular baby names in London last year if that affects things? To be fair, that's probably because it is such as a lovely name!
I also like James, Oscar or Seb

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 21:37

@PunishmentSnart I love Pip but not keen on Philip.

lgfh07 · 06/10/2021 21:38

@BrownEyedSquirrel Yes I do worry Leo is too popular. Nice suggestions thank you. I love Sebastian but my husband has vetoed this name.

Jude Alexander is lovely.

Leo is super popular. I don’t know if that bothers you or not. Not overly keen on the other choices.
