DH and I cant agree on any baby girl names! Don't know the sex yet but I'm leaning towards a girl as same horrific symptoms as DD! My DS was a breeze!

I love Hallie Grace, be hates Hallie! I also like Gracie but we already have a Maci !

Everything I suggest he says no 🙈

Lets hope its a boy as we have that picked out fine

What names does he like?

shreddednips · 03/10/2021 16:13

Just thinking if we know both your styles there might be something to fit both Smile

Hmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 16:18

@shreddednips the only name he likes is Gracie apparently think I need to buy him a baby name book!

shreddednips · 03/10/2021 16:22

Oh dear 🤦🏼‍♀️ Gracie is lovely but I can see it's too close to Maci.

What about Harriet with the nickname Hari? That's quite close in feel to Hallie. Do you both like names with the 'ee' sound at the end?

toadstool32 · 03/10/2021 16:27

What are your chosen boys names? That'll help with style

DanceAllDay · 03/10/2021 16:28

We had this with our second child and had to book our registration of him for the final day as we just couldn’t agree. He was known as “Baby” until a few days before.

It was an awful time as every name suggested I disliked, as did my partner when I thought of one. I actually cried when he was suggesting names as the only name that felt right was Baby - that’s only because he was known as Baby for such a long time 🤣🤣

One reassuring thing for me was that you can change their name within the first 12 months easily. We never did.

LozMarieFielder · 03/10/2021 16:32

I prefer Hallie to these but do you like Hollie or Hailey? They are similar.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 03/10/2021 16:36

What about Grace? He can nickname her Gracie when she's little if he wants, but her name at school as such won't rhyme with her sister's.

toastofthetown · 03/10/2021 16:36

Have you considered using a baby name app like Kinder? It’s like Tinder for baby names where you swipe though names and get told if you match on anything. It might help break the pattern of him rejecting names you being up, and stop you feeling like he isn’t bringing up any names himself.

CaffiSaliMali · 03/10/2021 16:45

I would go through the top 100/500/1000 names independently of each other and jot down any you like and see if you have any in common. Might give a bit of inspiration?

(I think the 2020 stats are coming out soon).

Do you have any shortlisted names left over from when you had Maci?

What about Holly, Poppy, Piper or Daisy? You could use Grace instead of Gracie?

DH and I will totally be in this boat, so I sympathise. I like short, simple, Welsh names and he likes longer frillier names!

Hmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 17:25

@toadstool32 it would be Archie if it's a boy, DH wanted that for our son but I wanted something else so have to give it him this time!

Hmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 17:25

@LozMarieFielder I like Holly but he doesn't!

Hmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 17:26

@CaffiSaliMali We did this recently on our 4 hour drive to Scotland and couldn't agree on 1! I think I went through over a thousand names before I got bored haha

Algebraicyourleg · 03/10/2021 17:36

We were like this, found an app called KINDER. It’s tinder but for baby names, do you independently swipe yes/no and it generates a list of names you both like.

It really helped us!

Hmumoftw0 · 03/10/2021 17:50

@Algebraicyourleg I will have a look thanks 😊
