Struggling so much to think of nice boys names.

I’m due in November with our first baby. My fiancé is Italian & has a very Italian first name and surname! I’m Irish and we live in Ireland so I’d like the name to be easy to pronounce by English speakers.

So far we like Alessandro, Niccolo, Matteo but none of them feel 100% right yet.

Any suggestions? I just feel like we haven’t found the right name!

Luca is an easy one, Edoardo, I’ve always loved Giacomo. Alessandro is lovely. Not sure if Milo is Italian but Milo Ventimiglia pulls it off with his surname.

Easy choice, Patrizio - meaning 'noble' in Italian and Irish. Patrizio is also known as Patrick (who happens to be the patron saint of Ireland) so you have a lovely combination of cultures there eh? The shortened version Paddy will also be all too appropriate when he's a toddler.

I have always wanted to call my son Leonardo (after da Vinci!), shortened to Leo. But my German husband wouldn't agree as it sounded too Italian! So we've now compromised on Leon if its a boy :)

Raffaello and Cosimo are my favourites.

A lot of the names suggested a) aren't Italian b) are the Italian equivalent of something ancient like Enoch or Ebeneezer c) nicknames

I like both Alessandro and Nicolò from your choices OP but too many twatty Italian politicians are called Matteo for me. Grin

Leonardo is currently n1 on the Italian boy name lists, which surprised me, as I thought it was still Luca.

Absolutely love Lorenzo or Enzo as a nickname. Could go for Santiago like Danni Dyer, also like Angelo
LordBuckley · 05/10/2021 01:53

Santiago isn't Italian, it's Spanish.
