So I feel a great urge to honor my dads name as the middle name, Brian. I like the Cas names, Cassiel, Cassius, Cassian. But I'm having trouble now that we want the middle name to be Brian because non really sound good with Brian. I wanted Cassian Brian, but a few have said that it doesn't go because they both end in "ian". I've been set on the nn Cas, so if you think a name that could be Cas as a nn and sounds good with Brian as the middle name tell me!! Last name is Dejesus (day-hay-zoos). Cassian Dejesus sounds great to me. I just don't know about Brian being in the middle but want to honor my dad. Help?!

Or even another name that sounds great with Brian that wouldn't be nn Cas, but I will never do a common/popular name for the first name so something unique

Caspar

mooloop · 27/09/2021 20:44

It's really not going to be often that you use the full name with his middle name, I'd just go ahead and use Cassian Smile

Floralnomad · 27/09/2021 20:44

Dashiell Brian

HollowTalk · 27/09/2021 20:44

I don't think you need to use his name to honour him. Obviously I don't know your situation but I would never ever feel that my children honoured me more by using my name.

MintyGreenDream · 27/09/2021 20:47

What about Briar as a middle name

Haffdonga · 27/09/2021 20:48

2 middle names?

Cassian John Brian Dejesus

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/09/2021 20:50

Cassidy. Can you use your dads middle name instead if it goes better with cassian.

inmyslippers · 27/09/2021 20:51

I'd stick with it, nobody uses middles names.

Happenchance · 27/09/2021 20:51

IME, Caspian Brian sounds a bit better than Cassian Brian.

Other suggestions:
Castiel
Cassander
Cassandero

Happenchance · 27/09/2021 20:51

IMO not IME

chouxfleur · 27/09/2021 20:53

I think it sounds quite cool having a middle name that doesn't match... makes me think of Dumbledore, full name:
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
(Sorry, not very helpful)

MirandaBlu · 27/09/2021 20:54

Casimir

Personally, though, I'd go with the first name you love most. The first and middle together won't be used that much. I don't think Cassian Brian is terrible, but 2 middle names is a good idea too.

Elisemum · 27/09/2021 21:04

If you want to honour you me Dad then have an album with his pics, talk to your children about him, get him involved as much as he would like to (if he is still around). Give your child his own name and let Brian be your dads name. simple as that

kayport87 · 27/09/2021 21:56

Thanks everyone! Both my brother and dad are Brian, but my brothers is spelled Bryan. Otherwise I'd consider Cassian Bryan to avoid both ending in "ian"

Caspian Brian somehow flows better than Cassian.

user1493494961 · 27/09/2021 22:32

I agree with pp, two middle names. I think on another thread you mentioned Theodore (apologies if it wasn't you), Cassian Theodore Brian.

Synchrony · 27/09/2021 22:52

No-one uses middle names so if you like Cassian, I think it's fine with Brian.
Also the "ian" in the two names don't sound the same to me, so it didn't occur to me as a problem.
Fwiw, I like Cassian Dejesus the best.

Missreginafalange · 27/09/2021 23:11

How often will you say the middle name anyway?? I would go with it and not worry, you could also use 2 middle names like PPs have said to break it up if it really bothers you.

lynntheyresexpeople · 27/09/2021 23:11

They're different sounding "Ian" though - Brian is Br-eye-an, cassian would be cass-ee-un.
Therefore it's absolutely fine 😁

I prefer Cassius personally, but both are nice!

lynntheyresexpeople · 27/09/2021 23:12

Also Dejesus is a fabulous surname Smile

TrampolineForMrKite · 27/09/2021 23:13

I’ve got a very dated name that’s not especially pretty as a middle name. It’s in honour of my aunt who died just before I was born. It’s never bothered me that it’s a slightly crap name because it means a lot to my family and to me to carry the name forward. Go with Brian. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t.

kayport87 · 27/09/2021 23:32

Thank you so much! I think both my sons have great names for our surname. Ezekiel Dejesus and Cassian Dejesus 😊

Cassian Brian is fine. They have the same ending but they don't sound bad together. If it bothers you, throw in another middle between Cassian and Brian to break it up a bit.

Aquamarine1029 · 28/09/2021 00:16

You can honour your father in loads of ways besides using his name as a middle name. Give your baby their own name and one you actually love.
