Hi. Don't know what we're having but we have put together a tentative list of names we like. We both have Welsh heritage.
Abraham (Bram)
Emrys
Lemuel
Jacob
Edwyn

Mabli
Alys
Meredith
Zadie

Thanks.

Abraham stood out to me, I like it. The rest are non offensive, Jacobs a classic.

MrsFin · 23/09/2021 23:24

What about Meredydd for a boy if you want a Welsh name?

Otherwise

Abraham - nice
(Bram) -awful
Emrys - like it
Lemuel - no
Jacob - done to death
Edwyn - prefer Edwin

Mabli - love it
Alys - like it
Meredith - No
Zadie - No

whattodo2019 · 23/09/2021 23:30

Sorry not my taste. I think they are all pretty awful

DramaAlpaca · 23/09/2021 23:32

The two I like are Edwyn and Alys.

Elspethelf · 24/09/2021 01:54

I like Mabli, Alys, Edwyn and Emrys the most :)

Kanaloa · 24/09/2021 02:03

Abraham (Bram) - not keen
Emrys - I like this
Lemuel - dislike
Jacob - nice enough. Very popular.
Edwyn - not keen, I prefer Edmund/Edward

Mabli - don’t like this
Alys - I would prefer Alice
Meredith - pretty, really nice name
Zadie - not keen, think it would be mistaken for Sadie a lot

RobinsReliant · 24/09/2021 02:12

Emrys and Meredith are my favourites from your list.

Joolsin · 24/09/2021 02:14

I love Bram, but don't really like any of the other names.

BubbleCoffee · 24/09/2021 03:44

I like Jacob, Edwyn, Meredith and Alys.

Edwyn Jacob
Alys Meredith

Amdone123 · 24/09/2021 04:32

I love Abraham. I was having it for my ds ( he's 33 now), but wasn't brave enough. I would have had Abel as a nn though.
Mabli is lovely. So much nicer than Mabel that I keep hearing. ( Is it Mab - blee or May - blee?)

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 24/09/2021 06:27

Abraham (Bram) - like this a lot
Emrys - like
Lemuel - not for me
Jacob - like
Edwyn - ok

Mabli - like
Alys - love! Beautiful Welsh spelling
Meredith - like
Zadie - like

CeeceeBloomingdale · 24/09/2021 06:30

I like Abraham, Jacob and Meredith from your list.

ofwarren · 24/09/2021 06:36

Meredith and Abraham

StevieNix · 24/09/2021 06:38

Love Emrys and Meredith from your list.
I think Meredith with nickname Edie is so cute!

Draggondragon · 24/09/2021 06:47

I just love your user name Grin

WeasilyPleased · 24/09/2021 09:37

Thanks @Draggondragon!
Wow a really mixed bag of replies. Mabli is pronounced Mab-li and is my favourite. Husband prefers Alys and neither of us like the A lice spelling much. I love Lemuel but am in a minority of 1 I think! Abraham is front runner with Edwyn possible middle name.
Thanks for the feedback.

Abraham (Bram) - Ab-RA-ham or AY-bruh-hum? Bram is ok.
Emrys - fine
Lemuel - new one on me. Not sure
Jacob - Jack-ob or Jay-cub?
Edwyn - looks welsh but isn't. It's a Welsh verb that's not much used

Mabli - fine
Alys - fine
Meredith - it's an anglicised boy's name and a surname. A flat No from me. Mererid might be a prettier alternative (Merr-ERR-id)
Zadie - nice but not welsh

I'd choose Emrys and Mabli

WeasilyPleased · 24/09/2021 23:04

It doesn't have to be Welsh...I was just pre-empting the question of if I had Welsh heritage.
According to my grandmother, my father was meant to be Edwyn but the registrar said it wasn't English enough so she changed the name altogether. 🤷‍♀️
Lemuel isn't Welsh either. It's biblical. Have I missed any other names I might like judging by the list?

Love love love Edwyn and Zadie.

Twizbe · 27/09/2021 21:21

Edwyn and Alys. I like Edmund as well.

I have a Cerys which is my all time favourite welsh name. Closely followed by Hywel.
