Hello :-) i'm trying to decide on the perfect name for my baby girl. I already have a little boy called Noah. I love his name but he is one of 3 in his class and i'd like to avoid her being one of several. Problem is i do like popular names so its a tough one! Which combo do you think works best?
Noah and...
Sophia
Mia
Alice
Grace
Isabella
Olivia

Thank you x

I like Mia and Alice best. I don't know where they fall on the popularity list.

toastofthetown · 19/09/2021 12:44

If you want to avoid common names they are 7th, 5th, 8th, 25th, 6th and 1st respectively. All are very popular names where she is likely to share a class, club or team with at least one other. My preference is Alice. It's the least popular too.

trama · 19/09/2021 12:45

They're all popular names, so there's every chance they will be one of several in their class or social group.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 19/09/2021 12:46

You’ve chosen lovely but very popular names! I’d choose Alice for both relative non-popularity and as my fave.

toastofthetown · 19/09/2021 12:46

Sorry, popularity (In England and Wales) is:
Sophia - 7th
Mia - 5th
Alice - 25th
Grace - 8th
Isabella - 6th
Olivia - 1st

RavenclawsRoar · 19/09/2021 12:47

I like Isabella and Olivia best from that list, but they are all popular.

WoozySnoozy · 19/09/2021 12:47

They are all really popular though. If you like them then go for one but if you don't want a popular name choose something else.

camellia15 · 19/09/2021 12:57

Sophia
Olivia
Isabella
They are all lovely names

Lockdownbear · 19/09/2021 13:07

Can I put Sarah on the list?

But failing that Grace or Olivia.

KirstenBlest · 19/09/2021 13:13

Sophia - very popular, but so is Noah
Mia - very popular, not keen
Alice - would pick
Grace - ok
Isabella - nice but too long
Olivia - overused

The only one I don't like is Mia

manquedutemps · 19/09/2021 13:43

Sophia!

TheWonderCat · 19/09/2021 13:56

I would say avoid all of them if you don’t want another one to be in her class.

I find Grace really dull as it’s used as a middle/hyphenated name for almost every girl at the minute. And I really don’t like Gracie as it’s too twee.

Isabella is nice but I don’t like Bella. Really dislike Mia.

Olivia is nice but immensely popular.

Hohofortherobbers · 19/09/2021 13:59

Alice and Sophia are lovely, not keen on the others. Agree that Gracie is a horrible nn for Grace

SummerintheCity2021 · 19/09/2021 14:01

They’re all nice names but very popular and have been for twenty years.

GemmaRuby · 19/09/2021 14:03

I like Alice the best

happystory · 19/09/2021 14:04

Alice. Don't like the sound of Noah and Mia....

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/09/2021 14:10

You can look on ONS to see which of the names are least popular in your particular area, as it may well not be the same as the national statistics.

But I'd say avoid Olivia (no 1 name so likely to be popular everywhere), Grace (thousands of girls with it as a middle name too, sometimes hyphenated so feels even more commonplace than it is) and Sophia (as Sophie and Sofia are also high in the tables so again feels more popular than it is). Equally Isabella could well have an Isabelle in her class.

My fave of your other choices is Alice, but Mia works well with Noah too.

whatausername · 19/09/2021 14:29

What about Leah? Has the Mia vibe but less popular

Alice

user1477391263 · 19/09/2021 15:33

If you really DON'T want her to be one of two or more in her class, you probably need to avoid all of them, OP. They are all popular names.

If you really do want one of the above, I would go for Alice. It's less common than the others, and is a fairly timeless name. I know Alices of all ages.

Mayhemmumma · 19/09/2021 15:35

I really like Mia and Sophia not fussed on others

TatianaBis · 19/09/2021 15:43

As posters have said these are all top 10 most popular names.

Noah and Delilah
Noah and Cosima
Noah and Talitha
Noah and Matilda
Noah and Beatrice
Noah and Honor
