Defo hate Theodore but is Theo ok in its own right?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Totally agree @PoolNooodle I don't understand it.

Love the name Theo and haven't actually met any!

Saladovercrispsanyday · 19/09/2021 09:01

Unusual to “hate” a name
But consider a very close derivative of it
Probably not the name for you!

peoniesandpastels · 19/09/2021 09:04

I love Theo and Theodore. The name is definitely having a moment right now, so likely to be a few other Theos amongst his peer group if that's the sort of thing that bothers you.

Chunkymenrock · 19/09/2021 09:16

Common here, so gone off it. Are you ready for the proliferation of "Fee-o" pronunciations though?

Blubells · 19/09/2021 09:50

If you hate Theodore, I'd probably not name your child a nickname version of it.

Biscuitsneeded · 19/09/2021 12:51

I have a 14 year old Theo and it wasn't so popular when we named him. I still like it as a name though and more importantly, he likes it!

manquedutemps · 19/09/2021 13:37

I like both, but I think it is going to be hard for the kid to be constantly explaining that he isn't Theodor officially.
It isn't a standalone name in my experience.

I’ve got a Theo, he’s the only one at his (v large) school. We occasionally come across others but it’s fairly rare

manquedutemps · 19/09/2021 13:42

Just thinking of a woman I knew called Kate, who often had to explain she was just Kate, not Katherine.

emmathedilemma · 19/09/2021 13:45

I like it but every other baby seems to be called Theo or Rueben in the last couple of years!

TheWonderCat · 19/09/2021 13:50

I have a Theo who is just Theo!

Obviously I love the name. There are two more in his year at school.
