Can they be sisters? Or are the names too similar?

Same, so, no.

Hercisback · 11/09/2021 07:02

Almost the same name so no.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/09/2021 07:02

Far too similar

patchoulicloud · 11/09/2021 07:02

Way too similar.

LawnFever · 11/09/2021 07:02

I think they’re far too similar, people would be forever mixing the names up and I think it just sounds a bit off with the names being so alike.

CiderJolly · 11/09/2021 07:02

No, lovely names, too similar

Fredoftheforest · 11/09/2021 07:10

Much much too similar.

MrsGilly1 · 11/09/2021 07:11

Hi,

Very similar although both lovely names

Nearlyme · 11/09/2021 07:15

Not the same, if I'm reading Emelia and AmAlee, but still v similar and the tenancy to read Emelia and Amelia

thesplashing · 11/09/2021 07:17

Both very pretty but just a little too close.

Perhaps save one as a middle name?

RedLemon · 11/09/2021 07:19

Beautiful names but I’d swap one out for ElodieSmile

APerfectSky · 11/09/2021 07:21

Most people spell it Amelia and they sound pretty much the same (Amelia/Emilia) so you'd end with what sounds like Amelia and Amelie.

But they're both lovely names.

toadstool32 · 11/09/2021 07:30

Thanks. I agree but just love them both! I have an Emilia and adore the name and really struggling to find another name that isn't a)in my huge family b) a kid I've taught

Isn't it essentially the same name? Grin

MerryMarigold · 11/09/2021 07:49

Anna
Alexandra
Laura
Elspeth

user1493494961 · 11/09/2021 08:31

Very similar, but I do know an Emilia shortened to Emmy and an Amelie shortened to Millie (cousins).

IVflytrap · 11/09/2021 09:01

Too similar, unfortunately. How about:

Eloise
Camille
Adelaide
Rosalie
Naomi
Ottilie
Ophelia
Juliet
Lorelai
Penelope
Bethany
Briony
Erica
Coralie
Isabel
Verity
Felicity
Melody
Aurelia
Arabella
Annabel

Or Elodie, as a pp suggested?

Elisemum · 11/09/2021 09:08

Both lovely names but no, way too same for sisters, a definite no no

Janaih · 11/09/2021 09:12

Virtually identical. I know a Beth with sister Betty and can't help but judge the parents.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 11/09/2021 09:16

Eloise and Elodie are lovely

suredsun · 11/09/2021 09:24

In theory Emilia is EMelia but in my experience it's often lazily pronounced as Amelia (my DD has a friend who I always thought it was Amelia until I saw it written down). A carefully pronounced Amelie and Emilia would be ok, but most people will think you've used almost the same name twice.

MrsGilly1 · 11/09/2021 09:27

Emelia and Aurelie?

Emelia and Florrie?

Pollythecat15 · 11/09/2021 11:14

I love both names.
I agree they are very similar, but if you said Amelie first, "Amelie and Emilia" rolls off the tongue perfectly to me.
Saying Emilia and Amelie sounds more similar and harder to flow together. Maybe that's just me.
They both lovely names though!

Adventing · 11/09/2021 12:02

Too similar I think, both lovely names though. How about,

Alma
Alba
Amber
Adelaide
Iris
Lorelai
Floris
Willow

Cotswoldmama · 11/09/2021 12:08

I'm going against the grain but I think it's fine. They're not always going to be talked about in the same breath. They are their own person.
