Traditional boys names/family names

Hello, due in early March and have begun to think about names! Have lots of ideas for girls, but nothing too exciting for boys. So far we like, Adam, Paul, Isaac and James if anyone has similar suggestions!

Also, what are people’s thoughts on using family names as first names? Toying with this idea too but I know it’s probably a little old fashioned!

I always find surnames as a first name a bit American. You can't go wrong with a traditional name. I'm grateful to my parents for giving me a raditional name. Timeless and works for a professional setting. Do you have a regional background? There are some lovely, traditional Irish/Scottish/Welsh names.

Use family name as middle name?

Thanks everyone, definitely some contenders here! Some we’ve already eliminated because family members in the same generations as our child already have those names unfortunately. It can be a bit of mine field!

Using family names as first names is an old tradition in Scotland. Depends on the name in question of course whether it's a good idea.

Unless you meant naming a child after a parent, grandparent? I think it's always best to give a child their own fresh identity but middle names are perfect for an affectionate nod towards a family member.

My post isn't very clear. Sorry. My first point is about using family surnames as first names and my second is about using the first names of family members.
