We have a Jennifer (known as Jenny)

Currently expecting another baby but we don't know the sex.

What would you expect her sister to be called? Looking for ideas and suggestions.

My current favourite is Annabelle (Anna)

Thanks Smile

Diana
Leanna

But Annabel is nicer than all of these and just Anna is best of all I think - classic, strong, beautiful name and if you want to call her Anna as a nickname anyway I’d just name her Anna.

With Jennifer (Jenny) definitely something of the same era that hasn't come back into fashion.

Jennifer is Cornish isn't it, so you could look at other names with Cornish roots

Venancy
Tamara
Elowen
(That's the extent of my Cornish name knowledge!)

I think if you definitely want to use Anna then it's safest to just use Anna (a classic/traditional name in it's own right like Jennifer). Annabel might be okay - but you could also get Belle/Bella if she insists when older. Same with Susanna, Rosanna, Antonia etc - you risk her wanting Suze/Suki, Rose/Rosa, Nina/Nia etc so you need to be happy with the alternative nn's too.

Annabel or Elizabeth
Eleanor would also go with Jennifer.
Unusual choice today but it's still a good name!

EducatingArti · 08/09/2021 20:40

Alison, nn Ali

PearlyRising · 08/09/2021 20:57

Oh somebody upthread suggested Susannah and that goes really well with Jennifer.

YoureTheTop · 08/09/2021 22:16

Susanna?

Ginevere · 08/09/2021 22:18

My sister is a Jennifer and I’m a Catherine, I’ve always thought that worked quite well!

Vaselike · 08/09/2021 22:22

I may have a reason to have overly noticed this over the years, but the Jennifer/Catherine combination is one that I have seen repeatedly.

Lonecatwithkitten · 08/09/2021 22:34

@Keke94LND

My name is Jennifer, I have a sister called Helen and a sister called Elizabeth, I think our names go quite well :)
I am Elizabeth and my sister is a Jennifer. I also know a pair of sisters 12 and 14 who are Elizabeth and Jennifer. The Elizabeth has been in combination with my middle name used in the family for centuries going back to Tudor times - long story about showing loyalty to a particular king after a family member lost his head over Rome.

carolinesbaby · 08/09/2021 23:16

Jennifer's sister should be called Sarah.

Her brother should be Richard, obviously.
