Thoughts on India?

Me and my husband have really struggled to agree on a name! Top of the shortlist at the moment is India..I have slight reservations about how others might perceive it (maybe as disrespectful culturally?). I’m pretty sure the name came before the birth of India the country / colonisation. India is also the first place me and husband travelled together for 6 mths so does have a special significance for us.

I would use the nickname ‘Indie’ most of the time. I also love Indigo but too hippy for my husband!

I’m not keen.

I like it. My BFF has a daughter called Indiana which is also lovely.

Like many names, it started out as an interesting and unusual name. Now it has been over adopted and before too long it will be a contemporary 'Chardonnay' or 'Sophie'

Well it is cultural appropriation really I suppose. And it’s not that old. But if you like it why not?

I know a couple lovely little girls 4 and 7 called India. Their mums are a bit hippy, into yoga, meditation.

I immediately think of India Knight cohabiting with a convicted paedophile, but your DD’s contemporaries won’t.

India over here Grin

Lol at the person who mentioned Katie Hopkins - I often think the same thing!

I like it, did have a few morons at junior school sing the Indiana Jones theme tune to me once or twice, but other than that it's served me well :)

It's a bit colonialist.
