Sister for Mabel

We’ve recently found out we’re expecting another girl, but struggling with a name. There’s just none I love as much as I did with Mabel’s name. I want to keep the name a secret so stying to not discuss it with family/friends.

My husband and I quite like the name Rose or Rosa. Our surname is boys names, 1 syllable starting with G.

What do you think of the name Rose/ Rosa?!

Beatrix?

Rosa is really cute and goes well with Mabel. I also think Ada, Eleanor and Kathleen (Kate) do too.

I like Rose with Mabel. Rosa is lovely, but too 'pretty' with Mabel.

My first thoughts were Lucy, Olive or Ada.

QueenHofScotland · 17/08/2021 00:58

Very weird but before I opened the thread I thought “Rosa” in my head. So I’m a bit freaked out by this! I like Rose and Rosa.

My great aunt was called Mabel. Her sisters were Anna, Evelyn and Lucy. I think all work well.

Rosa is lovely and goes well with Mabel. I felt like this with my second, like I didn't like any name as much as my first, and it felt like we'd compromised on having to choose something that wasn't good enough first time round. Now I actually slightly prefer her name to her big sisters!

MrsM36 · 17/08/2021 01:56

My first thought was Annie (but then I'm slightly biased as my youngest is Annie). I also really like Iris & think Beatrice goes well with Mabel too. In my mind they are all 'old fashioned' names, which is something I love.

SteppinOutwithMyBaby · 17/08/2021 02:01

My grandmother was named Mabel, and her sister was called Hilda. So, I always think those two names go together.

I like both Rosa and Rose and would pick whichever version goes best with your surname

littlelots123 · 19/08/2021 09:06

@Tigerstigers what did you name your tiger daughter! I’m still struggling! I vowed not to tell my mum as she always puts me off names. I cracked and told her I liked Rose or Rosa, the look on her face said it all! - I’m 34, when will I learn to keep things to myself! Now I’m back to square one! The names everyone have suggest are lovely but not jumping out at me! x
