Our daughter was born this week and we can't decide between 3 names! We like Charlotte, Eloise or Annabel. We both really like Charlotte but it is quite popular (not so much in Scotland where we live mind you, I don't know any round about us) . Any thoughts /opinions would be useful!

I like Annabel.

Congratulations! They're all lovely so you can't go wrong. Charlotte is my favourite. Will the others be middle names and you're just deciding which to go first, or do you have a different middle name (or none at all!).

You could pick one and go with it for a couple of weeks to see how it feels. You have a while before the deadline to register the birth (if it's six weeks like England).

They all have plenty of shorter nickname options if you'd like that.

But go with Charlotte!

Charlotte is an excellent name. If you both like it then go for it !

Disfordarkchocolate · 13/08/2021 15:34

All lovely. Elosie is my favourite. Congratulations.

Annabel’s my favourite. Like the diminutives too whereas less keen on Char and Ellie

Dandy0911 · 13/08/2021 15:37

Elouise is beautiful! They are all lovely though

campion · 13/08/2021 15:37

Charlotte is classic and lovely. Annabel is also nice.
Eloise is ok but definitely 3rd on my list.

Don't get hung up on popularity as names like those will always be around and won't make her age obvious when she's an adult, unlike Poppy, Ellie, Evie etc.

Camandmitch · 13/08/2021 15:39

Eloise

Flutteringwings · 13/08/2021 15:41

Annabel is lovely, although bear in mind the constant spelling out she'd be required to do because of the variations eg Annabel/Annabelle.

Charlotte is lovely too, and most people can spell that. Safest option, classic and pretty.

Eloise is my least favourite, even though it's a pretty name it sounds as if it should be spelled "Elouise". A friend had an Eloise and the child was called Elsie or Eloy-sie more times than she was called Eloise correctly first time.

manhattenrain · 13/08/2021 15:42

I adore Annabel!

Charlotte and Eloise are still nice but they do feel very overdone to me.

sunnygemini · 13/08/2021 16:07

I'd go with Annabelle, all lovely names tho

Fl0w3ry · 13/08/2021 16:08

I like Charlotte, I don't know any little Charlotte's and have only known one adult with the name. I think it's nice shortened to Lottie.
Annabel is also a lovely name.
Eloise I don't like so much.

NeverTrustaRabbit · 13/08/2021 16:41

Have all 3! Welcome to the world Eloise Annabel Charlott

RuthW · 13/08/2021 16:56

Eloise by a mile.

user1493494961 · 13/08/2021 17:20

I would choose Charlotte or Annabel, not keen on Eloise, which could get shortened to yet another Ellie.

luciasanta · 13/08/2021 17:33

Annabel is lovely! Then Charlotte then Eloise for me x

SuperSketchy · 13/08/2021 17:56

I like Charlotte and Eloise a lot! I think Charlotte I'd probably my favourite.

DinaofCloud9 · 13/08/2021 17:58

Eloise is nice. Charlotte is pretty boring.

GemmaRuby · 13/08/2021 17:59

Charlotte is lovely. I prefer Annabelle spelt this way, it just looks more balanced to me.

Tatum1234 · 13/08/2021 18:00

Congratulations! Annabel is lovely, Charlotte is a bit boring sorry.

Stevearnottsbeard · 13/08/2021 18:01

Love Charlotte 💕 I really like the sound of Charlotte eloise

GintyMcGinty · 13/08/2021 18:03

Charlotte.

BikeRunSki · 13/08/2021 18:04

Eloise I my favourite by a very, very long way

romdowa · 13/08/2021 18:05

Charlotte or eloise would be my choices. Annabel is just too cutsie for my taste. The other two are stronger names and they would grow with the baby.

Ihaveaquestion77 · 13/08/2021 18:10

I like Annabel best
