Im TTC my first baby and am thinking of names!! Here's my list :

(Some insight - last name will began with M and is two syllable)

Boy names
Mason
Ruben
Theodore (Theo for short)

Girl names
Millie
Amelia
Ella
Francesca (Fran for short)
Isabella
Imogen

My 2 favourites are Mason and Amelia at the minute. But like I say last name will start with M and is 2 syllable so I'm worried this will be a bit much 😩

Opinions? What do you like & dislike and for what reason? Any suggestions? Xx

Mason could go depending on the surname e.g. Mason Martin is catchy - Mason Manson not so much!

I like Theo and Francesca from your list.

Not keen on any of the others as I know lots of them and I've worked with 3 horrid Reubens so the negative association us there for me despite it being a fine name. Names are a very personal thing though so try not to worry too much about random strangers opinions.

If I had boy/girl twins tomorrow they'd be Erin and Issac.

We definitely don't have the same taste, so I won't be much help Grin

I like Isabella and Imogen from your lists, but none of the others. I particularly dislike Francesca and Mason (sorry!)

Mason as middle name, Free as first!

I like Reuben and Isabella best

@DoucheCanoe

I know 2 Reubens, one is my nephew, the other is my honorary nephew and they are both top dudes.

But any Robert I have ever met was bad news.

I like Theodore and Imogen from your list. Couple of names we had if a girl (we had two boys!) were Georgiana and Clarice.

CoffeeRunner · 07/08/2021 01:45

Theo & Ella.

Erin and Isaac are lovely names. Smile Yeah it's really hard for me to think of names Sad even harder for my partner. I love traditional names but as they have been so popular there's a lot of connotations towards them for us, either someone we know in real life or someone from the telly ect. I'm easily put off names too. I was set on Mason for a while and now I'm going off it due to his last name starting with M ! Xx

@AlwaysLatte

talk about connotations, I couldn't ever hear Clarice in any other way than Anthony Hopkins' saying it in Silence of the Lambs
🤣

Theo and Imogen are the only ones I really like from your list. Amelia contains the repulsive noise 'mealy'. Uh mealy uh. Awful. Please look up the medical meaning of it too, which is quite distressing. Don't do that to your poor child.

Yellowmoons · 07/08/2021 06:20

I dislike Mason. Reuben is nice, spelt this way. Also quite like Theo. Other suggestions - Leon, Rowan, Rory.

I love Imogen - beautiful name and was the name I almost called my newborn daughter. The others are a bit 'meh' for me - a bit frilly and overused. Particularly dislike Francesca. How about - Iris, Ivy, Iona, Elise, Elora, Esme, Elowen, Erin, Erica, Camille?

Yes there is that. We had a relative with that name so we had the benefit of knowing it a different way, also it's an old film already now!

AlwaysLatte · 07/08/2021 10:00

Also, it's pronounced 'Clariss' not 'Cler-eese', so that helps!
