Is Jules/Jools inevitable?

I love Juliet but really don’t like Jules/Jools…I think I probably need to let Juliet go but its so hard!!

Definitely not inevitable. Just introduce your chosen diminutive from day one and others will follow suit. I like Ettie/Letty as a diminutive.

I know a Juliet and a Juliette. Both go by their full names only.

I don't think it's inevitable unless Juliet chooses to go by Jules.

It's a beautiful name.

I quite don't like Juliet (sorry, just one opinion from Internet random).

You do have to accept that they may get lots of nicknames they like fine & you don't. This is a risk you have to accept.

"He's Matthew, not Matt!" -- By age 12, only his mother calls him Matthew. etc.

The two I know are called by their full name by everyone.
My children have names that are traditionally shortened to names that other people might even use as full names (think Bella or Tom or Charlie) and everyone said that we would never manage to avoid their names being shortened. They're pretty much adult now and no one shortens their names ever.
It's nowhere near as much of a thing as Mumsnet will always have you believe.

DD (4) is Juliet, never anything else (other than our silly pet name) . What nickname she chooses is up to her in the future but I'll only use her full name

I love it though I think the shorting of Jules/Jools is inevitable. Jools/Jules is nice to if that's what happens.

I’m in the same boat. Love Juliette and Genevieve but don’t really like any of the obvious nicknames. I’ll ways call my DD by her full name and I guess whatever nn she ends up with, if any, is out of my control anyway. This has just made me think of a sibling group I know (30’s age group) Pete, Ed and Kat(hleen) known by only those shortenings to friends but full name only to parents. An ex boyfriend of mine as well, Chris, but only ever Christopher to his parents.
