i’m unable to decide between valentina and roseanne, i had my heart set on roseanne as i like the fact it can be shortened to rose but valentina has thrown a curveball! which do you think would be a better name? Blush

Roseanne is lovely but prefer Rosanna. Valentina is ok but the nicknames Val or Tina put me off! Congrats on your pregnancy 💕

campion · 31/07/2021 17:07

Roseanne/a

Violetlavenders · 31/07/2021 17:10

Love Valentina!

freelions · 31/07/2021 17:10

I prefer Roseanne or Roseanna

At 4 syllables Valentina is a bit of a mouthful and I really don't like Val which I assume would be the most likely shortening

indecisivemama93 · 31/07/2021 17:12

I don’t mind val as a shortening but tina does sound a bit off. The only good thing I can think about for tina is my grandmother was known as Ina. Smile

Love love love Valentina

Strokethefurrywall · 31/07/2021 17:19

DS2 would have been Valentina, with the nn Leni.
It’s a stunning name, Roseanne is pretty but Rose is too popular for me.

freelions · 31/07/2021 17:22

The other issue with Valentina is that is sounds like 'Val n Tina' which conjures up an image of 2 middle aged women!

AlwaysLatte · 31/07/2021 17:23

Valentina!

FayeFayeFayeFayeFaye · 31/07/2021 17:29

I’d go for Rosanna over Rosanne. I don’t like Valentina, I don’t like Val as a shortening.

Geamhradh · 31/07/2021 17:31

Valentina for me. Nicknamed invariable Vale with the "e" pronounced in Italy.
I find Roseanne and Rosanna both frumpy, maybe because they're old-fashioned in Italy.

Gloschick · 31/07/2021 17:33

How about Rosalia?

indecisivemama93 · 31/07/2021 17:36

Rosalia and Rosanna are lovely, i’ll keep them in mind! Grin

Rosanna/Roseanna

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2021 18:53

That /e/ in Roseanne looks odd to me. I much prefer Rosanne or, even better, Rosanna.

Valentina is lovely, but Tina isn't.

flowerpootle · 31/07/2021 20:38

I love love LOVE valentina

Roseanne not so much

Aliceclara · 31/07/2021 21:39

What about Rosaria?

sarah13xx · 31/07/2021 21:48

I really like that Rochelle Humes’ little girl is Valentina, nickname Valle (Valley). It’s really unusual

GaiaGirll · 31/07/2021 21:56

Love Valentina and would also go Valle for the nickname or even V for short

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/07/2021 22:58

Much prefer Rosanna to Rosanne - that extra "a" gives it a much more romantic and classical sound imo ala Julie vs Juila, Diane vs Diana etc.

Valentina is pretty in a sightly frilly way, but I'm less keen on Val/Tina than I am Rose/Rosa/Annie.

PolkadotSkies · 31/07/2021 23:23

Valentina

indecisivemama93 · 01/08/2021 00:37

Thank you! I’m not so sure about Roseanne anymore.. maybe just Rose?

Rose is a classic and both romantic and elegant - if it works with your surname it's pretty much a "can't go wrong name" imo, well used but not top 50 yet.

SaltySheepdog · 01/08/2021 05:27

I’m with you. Rose and Roseanne are beautiful. Valentina is ok I guess but Val and Tina are awful.

SaltySheepdog · 01/08/2021 05:33

Rosa and Rosemary too
