A sister for Anna

My daughter is called Anna. I love her name; to me, it is elegant, simple, classic, timeless and international. I'm now expecting number two, and if it's a girl, I'd like to choose a name with similar qualities, and a similar "feel". Here is our list so far - I'd love to get some opinions on which would be the best of these options, as well as any suggestions of names you think would work well.

Emily
Lucy
Isobel
Naomi
Iris
Mary
Frances
Rose

The Anna's I know have Claire, Natalie and Louise as siblings which I think would all fit your criteria.

TatianaBis · 01/08/2021 14:47

I like Iris the most but think it goes least well with Anna.

Really don't like Naomi.

Mary = slang for vagina.

Florence

Elsie

Lara ( I know it ends in an a)

Phoebe

Kathryn- or any other spelling (Kate)

Hope

I'm another one who thinks Lucy is a lovely name that sounds perfect with Anna.

I also really like Naomi

Your list is great. My favourite is Rose - think it is so simple and elegant and I don't hear it often as a first name.

Second choice is Lucy, again; pretty and simple, not too popular at the moment either.

SadWife2020 · 02/08/2021 14:48

@BigCheddar I love your name ideas. My favourite of yours is Rose as to my mind it has the same classic elegance as Anna. It’s not perfect from the international perspective but I think using Rose at home and Rosa internationally would work. I also like Lucy plus you get the Narnia vibe Smile

Other ideas:
Eleanor (my favourite, works internationally as Elena)
Charlotte
Catherine
Nina (works internationally but breaks your not ending in a rule)

Good luck Flowers

Not Laura!!!!! Just awful.

Anna's sister - Elsa

TinToms · 04/08/2021 15:24

Definitely Lucy. My sisters are Anna and Lucy and they are the kindest, cleverest and loveliest people in the world! I love their names together. Lucy is feminine without being sweet.

Lucy
Isabella
Charlotte
Josephine
Sophia

I am an Anna and my sister is Lucy. I love our names. Although as I'm younger we're often referred to as Lucy and Anna not Anna and Lucy Wink

Elspethelf · 05/08/2021 06:45

Anna and Rose is my favorite combination from your list. If you would like more ideas, what about Anna and Sylvie? Another name that is classic but with a twist and less common then some others on your list.

ODFOx · 05/08/2021 06:56

I think your list is great OP.
My favourite names of this type are Mary and Jane.

Twokitstwokats · 05/08/2021 23:13

I wrote your post 4 years ago OP when I had an Anna and was expecting. I won't reveal the name we chose in the end, but here was our shortlist. My Anna is Anna Lucy
