Douglas, Iain, David, Johnny, Matthew, Alastair, Graham, Angus, Peter. Names of people I know who went to a private school in Scotland. Not a Tarquinius amongst them. Why would there be? Girls? Lots of James, Fionas.

Why do you ask? It’s a pretty odd question, for a start ‘privately-educated’ isn’t a personality trait, it’s literally only indicative of where you went to school. I mean the range of people who are privately educated is huge. KSI? Privately educated. Boris Johnson? Privately educated. Prince Harry? Privately educated. If you can afford fees to a private school, your child’s name will be a privately educated name whether they are called Annabel, Beatrice, Obi-wan-kanobi or Chavella-Marie. Giving your kid a name you associate with ‘posh’ people won’t make your child posh.

By the way, that’s not me implying I think posh is something to aspire to. Just call your child a name you like and raise them to have a personality outside of whether you can send them to a fee paying school.

Didn't go to a private school but swam for a competitive swimming club of which around 90 percent were privately educated kids and teens
