It will be forever misspelt as Webber imo (since that's a more popular spelling for the surname). I also think it's not a particularly nice sound and there is no obvious nn if he doesn't like it.

But if it has family meaning for you I've heard far worse! If it's just the "surname as not too popular given name" you like then Heath, Maxwell, Bennett, Vaughan, Clark etc are all nicer imo.

Terrible

MerryMarigold · 23/07/2021 23:24

I think of the composer too and would def pronounce it Vay-ber (which sounds better than Webber anyway). But nah... Don't do it.

I do like my Weber bbq. But wouldn't name a child after it.

Classica · 24/07/2021 00:30

Gerry Weber

My mother's favourite clothing brand.

hawkehurstgang · 24/07/2021 12:00

As in, Max Weber?

It's not a name? It's a surname.

beingsunny · 24/07/2021 12:02

Like the BBQ?

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 24/07/2021 12:05

Don't do it. It's a (not uncommon) German surname and brand name.

mrsnibblesisahero · 24/07/2021 12:11

A PR agency

percheron67 · 24/07/2021 12:29

Good name for a Weimaraner.

jonkersdeplonkers · 24/07/2021 12:34

German sociologist to me too I'm afraid!

ChickenSchnitzel · 24/07/2021 12:39

First thought BBQ
Second thought is your DH German?
Third thought it will be forever mia spelt and mis pronounced.

Movinghouseatlast · 24/07/2021 12:41

It's a barbeque.

SillyBub · 24/07/2021 12:45

I prefer the name George Foreman

HangingBasketFuchsia · 24/07/2021 12:46

Didn't he call all his kids George too?!

topcat2014 · 24/07/2021 12:49

We buy industrial electronics from a German company called this

Classica · 24/07/2021 12:49

His five sons are George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey").

Nothing egotistical and weird there! Grin

Zilla1 · 24/07/2021 14:16

Not entirely egotistical - I think only one of his seven? daughters got a George name (Georgetta?). No Georgina's, Georgies or anything. Practically restrained.

Ifixfastjets · 24/07/2021 20:43

My first thought was carburetors.
But that could be webber?

PattyPan · 24/07/2021 21:07

As a German speaker, I think it’s weird. It will get mispronounced and misspelt, probably Spider-Man jokes too.

BackforGood · 24/07/2021 21:21

Which country will he be growing up in ?
As that might make a difference.

LittleBearPad · 24/07/2021 21:23
