Which name do you prefer?

We can’t decide between Ivy and Maya (May-a) which one do you prefer?

I love both but I think Ivy. Actually Ivy Mays would sound great together!

I prefer Ivy.
Maya pronounced how you want it just sounds like Mayor to me.
And I say this as someone who has a name that can be pronounced two ways - please don’t give your daughter the lifelong hassle of constantly having her name mispronounced, having to correct people etc.

It's very popular at the moment, but to me Ivy sounds a bit fusty and old fashioned. Doesn't make a great sound. And it's a parasitic plant.

So I'd say Maya (although I don't really agree with your pronunciation).

What about May?

We have a Maya at school who is pronounced May-a and another who is pronounced My-a so she will spend her life with people pronouncing it wrongly.

Go for Ivy - no doubt about the pronunciation!

Dislike Ivy.

Maya is ok but the pronunciation issues would stop me using it.
I like the similar sounding Layla.

Maya was at the top of our girls list for ages but we reluctantly decided against it because we didn't want her to have to correct spelling or pronunciation every day.
So Ivy. A PP said it's higher in the rankings than Maya but I bet if you combined all the variants of Maya it wouldn't be

Maya is more popular but it's so much nicer than Ivy which isnt a nice sound at all.
Shocked so many prefer it to Maya!
