Im really stuck on girls names, theres not a single name me and my partner can agree on. I want something unusual but something really pretty and girly. Whats the most unusual names you've heard?

At ds' nursery, there's an Odette, a Valentina and an Isadora! I quite like those names, especially Odette. Can't say I've ever met any before. Although I realise the fact they are all at nursery means they could be becoming more popular...

@RavenclawsRoar ooh i like valentina. That's a really pretty name 🙂

I’ve checked in a Cinderella and a Songbird (both real, legal names).

SeeYouInFive · 22/07/2021 18:14

On 24 Hours in A&E a few years ago there was a couple who were featured who called their baby girl Rohais, which is an old French word for Rose, apparently (I googled it because I thought it was so pretty!)

I always like Corrine/Corrina/Celeste but didn't suit my DD.
Seraphina is very pretty.

Probably Magenta. Never met another.

brushlaptop · 22/07/2021 18:20

Lilly pebbles (blogger) has a daughter called grey. I'm all for unusual names but of all the colours to chose from grey is the worst one 😂 just so lacklustre. I would have gone for Magenta over that

wellingtonsandwaffles · 22/07/2021 18:22

Amour, nasteho, lettice, Pearl, Gwendoline

BadlydoneHelen · 22/07/2021 18:24

Most unusual ( ie only met one ) I've encountered are Petronella Hester Cinderella and Callisto

JaninaDuszejko · 22/07/2021 18:25

DS is friends with an Isadora. It's a lovely name, her parents are from another country, don't know how popular it is there. I don't think of it as particularly 'pretty and girly' though, it's quite grown up and sophisticated to me.

Currently 28 weeks pregnant. Will be calling DC#2 Aurora

Grainjar · 22/07/2021 18:33

Morwenna
Elodie

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/07/2021 18:36

Olwen is a name I've only heard once and always thought sounded lovely.

Sundance5 · 22/07/2021 18:38

Genevieve

MadameOvary81 · 22/07/2021 18:39

I wanted Dahliana or Amara if we had a girl.

sugarapplelane · 22/07/2021 18:40

We knew a couple who named their daughter J'Ouvert

Named after the first day of Trinidads yearly festival apparently

I just can't stand apostrophes in names

SpacePug · 22/07/2021 18:45

Melody
Ripley
Mila

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 22/07/2021 18:45

Huigenia - a loooong time ago though. She’d be about 50 now I think

cheesecrackerz · 22/07/2021 18:48

Some people here really haven't heard many unusual names...!

Half of these are pretty common

Especially Aurora, Elodie and Genevieve

BunnyRuddington · 22/07/2021 18:52

Aurora

I've got bad news for you, it's not that rare. You don't meet many but I think there's about 3 in our town.

Wiglio · 22/07/2021 18:54

Sjymie, pronounced Shimi, Dutch I think
