Lily or Olive

My fiancé and I have been going backwards and forwards with baby names the past few months for our little girl due in september.

Now I have a favourite name, and my fiancé has a favourite, and about 3 weeks ago we decided to use my fiancé’s favourite name, Lily.

Literally a couple of days later Prince Harry and Meghan announced the birth of Lilibet and now Lily is the number 1 most popular name in the UK 🙄

Neither of us want our baby to have a really popular name so we’ve decided to think about another name and Olive is our next in line.

I still think Lily is such a pretty name so I’m gutted it’s so popular now.

What do you think about Lily or Olive?x

I don’t think people were rude either. You asked for opinions on the names you were considering. It’s a completely different thing to introduce your baby and people say they don’t like the name (which has happened to me btw!)
I actually love Olive. It was a contender for us for both our girls. Lily is a bit ordinary for my taste it nice enough. Lilibet on the other hand is so sweet!

Olive definitely.
Lily is so popular. How about Lilian?

Or Lilia

Congrats OP I love the name Olive 😀

A thousand times Lily. Yes, it's popular, but always has been, and Olive is bloody awful.

Another vote for Lilian. It has an ‘Olive’ vibe to it, but is nicer, imo, and also preferable to the v popular ‘Lily’!

Lily. I only know 2, one is 18, one is 7. Classic and elegant.
Wouldn’t name a child after a small salty, khaki coloured fruit.

ah, just read thread.
Congratulations, I wish you joy with your tiny fruit! xx
