Not due for a few more months but we have a girls name sorted (Olive) but we're so stuck for boys! Can anyone give me some for suggestions please. This is my list so far. None seem quite right and my husband dosent really like any of them apart from Hector which I'm not sure about

Rufus
Jasper
Barnaby
Ralph

Jasper just reminds me of Jasper carrot

Horehound · 21/07/2021 20:43

James is a nice name

3womeninaboat · 21/07/2021 20:54

Francis and Joseph are much nicer than any on your list. A little Frank would be adorable.

Lotsachocolateplease · 21/07/2021 22:46

I agree with pp that Olive is actually quite popular now, it’s the new modern Olivia.

But for boys names, I’m not keen on your choices, they all seem very much like in trying not to be popular you’ve chosen the names that come up often in these threads suggesting more popularity than you previously thought.

My suggestions
Joel
Saul
Solomon
Nathan
Arron
Mark
Matthew
Percy
Robert
Herbert
Victor
Quentin
Tobias

MrsBertBibby · 21/07/2021 23:33

Why not Joseph as first name, though? It's a great name!

Thewinterofdiscontent · 22/07/2021 00:05

The era after Kevin and Jason?

Tobin

Gabriel

Also traditional names James, William and Fredrick all good.

agree that the others seem faddy

Nancydrawn · 22/07/2021 04:25

What about Theodore, Theo for short? Less faddy than some of those names. And your husband might like the shorter Theo.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I didn't realise I was so drawn to R names. Also didn't realise that the names I liked were really popular. God this is so hard. I really don't like the classic names like William, Peter etc. Some good suggestions here tho thank you. It was much easier naming my cat 😂

Travis!

tgt123 · 22/07/2021 12:20

Of your list, Ralph is definitely my favourite. But I'm not a big fan of more obscure names like Hector etc (also too close to the verb to hector for me).

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 22/07/2021 12:26

Weirdly, I know 3 young Hectors so would rule that out. Jasper is a name for a wasp round here so wouldn’t use that.

I like Wilfred the best. Wilf, Will, Fred, Freddy and Wilfred are all great names.
