Sebastian

HWHWHWFG · 04/12/2021 22:30

Sebastian/Seb!

ladygindiva · 04/12/2021 22:38

Sebastian / Seb
I know about 100,000 Jacks, I think everyone does.

Elspethelf · 05/12/2021 00:29

Sebastian but I prefer Bash or Bastian to Seb

KirstenBlest · 07/12/2021 16:17

Jack

FourTeaFallOut · 07/12/2021 16:23

Jack. I prefer Sebastian but not if it is reduced to Seb, Seb sounds like a grim illness.

RestingStitchFace · 07/12/2021 17:14

I think Jack is a good solid boy's name personally. Sebastian on the other hand is too poncey fussy for my liking.

MoominMeggy · 07/12/2021 19:36

I like both. Prefer Jack but the popularity puts me off. Probably go for Sebastian as it's less common and I really like the nn Seb.

Marimaur · 07/12/2021 19:40

Jack. I know 3 toddler Sebastians, no Jacks.

custardbear · 07/12/2021 19:42

Sebastian 100%

whoknows2 · 07/12/2021 19:42

My Jack is the only one in his class. Mumsnet seem to dislike the name very much 😋

goodgollygosh23 · 07/12/2021 19:43

Jack 100%.
It's classic, timeless and friendly. A lovely name.

Sebastian is too fussy for me.

goodgollygosh23 · 07/12/2021 19:47

Funnily enough there are more Sebastian's at ds school now than there are Jacks.

Overall jack maybe is more popular but it depends if that's an important factor to you. Personally I'd rather go with a name that I truly loved than something I compromised on just for the sake of being different. Other peoples choices don't really mean that much to me.

campion · 07/12/2021 19:50

They're both fine OP. I like Sebastian better but I do know one who's known as Baz which isn't great.

Had to laugh at someone saying Jack's an old man's name when Albert, Stanley, Wilfred etc pop up regularly.

WhoppingBigBackside · 07/12/2021 20:11

Both names are popular but Jack has been popular for longer.
MNers tend to like longer names or names that are trendy

halloweenie13 · 10/12/2021 23:06

Sebastian, every Jack I know is not very pleasant and I always hear family member teachers say it's a naughty name.
