DS 2 weeks old and still no name - HELP!

I had my ds2 about 2 weeks ago and still can’t decide on a name. I thought we had a good strong list but nothing seems to work. Our surname starts with a B, his middle name will be Samuel (family tradition) and DS1 is called Clark.

Our main choices are;
Bruce Samuel B(surname)
Or
Ezekiel (Zeke) Samuel B(surname)

Bruce is a marmite name for me. Lots of famous successful Bruces’ and I like the alliteration, it sounds strong. However I’m on the fence about the Bruce/Clark combo; I’m a nerd but that might be too much even for me! Also it’s rather old and all I picture is Bruce Forsyth!

Zeke is a cool name and lots of other nn options from Ezekiel. However, I don’t know anyone called Zeke and worry it’s pushing strongly into try hard/hipster territory.

So wise mumsnetters- which way should we go or is there a fabulous name we haven’t considered?

Whole hog and go Peter?
Grin
Clark and Otis

likeamother · 10/07/2021 18:46

Jude Samuel?
Would go well with Clark

Or Louis? Casey? Hugo?

Ellmau · 10/07/2021 18:50

I would not go for Bruce with a B surname. Zeke is better. Zachary (Zack) would be more conventional.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 10/07/2021 18:50

Bruce B reminds me of Bruce Bogtrotter, sorry! Also it runs into the S of Samuel.
Ezekiel Samuel is a bit of a mouthful but I prefer the name.

If you like the alliteration, why not Blake. It goes well with Clark, imo.

Or..Boden Samuel

MissisBee · 10/07/2021 18:53

Clark and Bruce would make me think of superman and batman. Zeke is nicer anyway 😊

SometimesRavenSometimesParrot · 10/07/2021 18:53

I think Bruce and Clarke is a bit much sorry!

Stevearnottsbeard · 10/07/2021 18:54

Isaac, I have a Samuel isaac so I might be a teeny bit biased!! 😂 😂

Terrazzo · 10/07/2021 18:56

Not getting the Bruce and Clark thing!

There is a young Bruce round the corner from us. BRUCE. It’s very strong sounding. I have no real feelings on it either way.

Love the suggestions above of Otis and Boden. Or Clark and Dexter/Hudson/Calvin/Cody/Zeb(edee)/Jed ?

daisypond · 10/07/2021 18:56

I really like Bruce. Ezekiel is a non-starter.
Anything to do with Bruce and Clark has no meaning at all to me. Even when prompted by the posts above, it’s meaningless.

User1357 · 10/07/2021 18:58

I’d choose Ezekiel (Zeke) Samuel B(surname) out of the two. Defo not Bruce.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 10/07/2021 18:58

Reuben

NuffSaidSam · 10/07/2021 18:59

I think Bruce B--- sounds like a cartoon character.

Zeke is much nicer. Makes me think of neighbours. I think Clark and Zeke is a bit of a mouthful though.

NotAnotherPushyMum · 10/07/2021 19:00

Bruce and Clark? Not unless you’re comic book fans and there’s enough of them about to make the connection.

I like Zeke.

EssentialHummus · 10/07/2021 19:01

I quite like Zeke. Zach, as PP suggested?

Congratulations Flowers

Crockof · 10/07/2021 19:02

If your 2weeks in and neither has stuck I think you need to go back to the drawing board.

Although I do like Kent...

Popcornbetty · 10/07/2021 19:03

I like Clark actually, it makes me think of Clark Gable and Gone with the Wind. It is really unique and sounds old school strong gentleman to me.

parttimedrifter · 10/07/2021 19:04

I think Evan, Dean and Drew go quite nicely woth Clark.

I like it as well but it would be a brave decision for op to name ds2 it.
BajanB · 10/07/2021 19:07

Congratulations 🥳. I like Ezekiel Samuel. My uncle was Ezekiel and we called him Uncle Ezzy.

Im not keen on Bruce really. If you don’t go for Bruce would you want something Biblical?

Biblical names I love are:
Rafael
Gabriel
Luke/Lucas
Aaron
Micah

Not biblical:
Miles
Nathan
Robert
Marcus
Giles
Rory
Tobias/Toby

GlumyGloomer · 10/07/2021 19:24

The thought of two little boys called Clarke and Bruce has made me smile so much Grin
I'm going to go left field and suggest Samuel Bruce B. And absolutely dress them up in the relevant costumes at least once.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 10/07/2021 21:17

Clark is lovely, but I'm afraid Bruce sounds quite comical to me, despite Bruce Wayne and Bruce Banner- so of the two I'd pick Ezekiel. It is a maybe bit "much", but at least Zeke is quite cool.

If you like alliteration, how about Bram? Cool and single syllable like Bruce and Clark. Or maybe a fellow "surname" name like Clark - Brody, Bennett or Beckett?

TerribleCustomerCervix · 10/07/2021 21:20

Agree with this- if neither feel right then it’s maybe time to look at other options
AngelDelightUk · 10/07/2021 21:54

Bruce wouldn’t be my choice I must admit, and I agree with PP if neither have stuck you should start thinking of alternatives

How about
Raef
Theo
Joel
Kurt

Or Blaine, Bryce and Blake are similar to Bruce, but I’m not sure if you want a BB initial set up.

Ikeameatballs · 10/07/2021 21:58

I much prefer Bryce to Bruce, sounds less harsh and I think sounds better with Clark. I like alliteration so that wouldn’t bother me.

FeedMeSantiago · 11/07/2021 10:15

I prefer Zeke to Bruce. It goes well with Clark without feeling matchy.
