Hello

Struggling with boys name. Have a girl name ready. What do you think about my list.

Finn
Ramsay
Reuben
Nathan
Alexander
Matthew
Vinnie (Vincent)
Spencer
Finlay

Its quite a random list. Our other DC is Elliot. Doesn't need to match but just for other suggestions.

Nathan and Alexander would go well

BunnyRuddington · 08/07/2021 19:21

The only one I like is Alexander. Sorry OP.

Retrievemysanity · 08/07/2021 19:24

Alexander, Nathan and Matthew I like from your list but I think Spencer goes well with Elliot.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 08/07/2021 19:24

Finn goes really well with Elliot imo

Also like Reuben

Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo · 08/07/2021 19:25

Finn and Alexander go well. I love the name Alexander.

Worst on list is Vinnie.

NeepNeepNeep · 08/07/2021 19:25

Finn - No
Ramsay - Gordon
Reuben - No
Nathan - Not keen
Alexander - Nice
Matthew - Nice
Vinnie (Vincent) - Jones
Spencer - Frank
Finlay - Nice

Tulips15 · 08/07/2021 19:25

Ramsay and Finlay will always be pronounced as ' Ramsey and Finley'

SaltnSauce20 · 08/07/2021 19:31

Thanks for the opinions. I think @Tulips15 the different spellings would have the same pronunciation.

Finn - nice, 'safe'
Ramsay - Don't think this is very nice
Reuben - Dislike
Nathan - nice enough
Alexander - nice
Matthew - a bit boring and dated
Vinnie (Vincent) - love, my favourite from your list
Spencer - harsh sounding
Finlay - OK but a bit common

BrizzleMaverick · 08/07/2021 19:35

My eldest is Alexander (Alex) and we have very rarely met other Alexander's. He only met his first female Alex (an adult) a couple of months ago which he was really excited about as I have been telling him for years that girls can be an Alex as well.

AvantGardening · 08/07/2021 19:44

I like Vincent.

LittleBlackCat22 · 08/07/2021 19:46

I love Alexander but it’s my husbands name so it’s going to our sons middle name. Which is a nice touch as Alexandra is my middle name. I would go for that!

Lavender21 · 08/07/2021 19:50

I like Finlay and Spencer the best.

IggyAce · 08/07/2021 19:50

Finn ok, nice.
Ramsay no
Reuben ok, quite popular where I am.
Nathan prefer Nathaniel.
Alexander love
Matthew like
Vinnie (Vincent) no
Spencer no
Finlay ok.

DennisTMenace · 08/07/2021 20:00

I like all except for Ramsay. I prefer Nathaniel to Nathan, but both are nice.

felulageller · 08/07/2021 20:15

Finn like
Ramsay nice not used enough
Reuben ugly name
Nathan bit dated
Alexander classic
Matthew 80s
Vinnie (Vincent) bad boy
Spencer ok
Finlay best

MondayYogurt · 08/07/2021 20:17

I know 4 Alexes Smile

Nathan is lovely, with Nate for short.

MonsterJammin · 08/07/2021 20:23

Love Finn but really, really dislike Finlay. It sounds too 'wet' to me. From the others I would use Nate for Nathan and I actually like Vinnie.

Onlinedilema · 08/07/2021 20:44

I like Matthew and Alexander best. Classic names which won't date.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/07/2021 20:49

Alexander and Matthew are lovely - very classic (I especially like Alexander).

The others aren't my taste, sorry (a bit harsh or trendy sounding for me) - although weirdly I really like Nathaniel rather than Nathan, it's just slightly softer sounding somehow. I also really like the sound of Owen with Elliot for some reason.

MondayYogurt · 08/07/2021 20:52

Just to add, I like Finbar as well.

Kanaloa · 08/07/2021 20:58

Finn - ok
Ramsay - don’t like at all, reminds me of game of thrones
Reuben - nice
Nathan - nice
Alexander - my favourite from your list, strong and versatile
Matthew - Nice strong name
Vinnie (Vincent) - It’s ok
Spencer - don’t like, a bit wet
Finlay - not keen, prefer just Finn

KirstenBlest · 08/07/2021 23:00

Finn - nice but lots of Finn/Finleys
Ramsay - not sure
Reuben - no, and R names too popular
Nathan - not keen butt goes ok with Elliott
Alexander - popular
Matthew - like
Vinnie (Vincent) - no
Spencer - no
Finlay - see Finn

SleepingStandingUp · 08/07/2021 23:04

Finn - cute. Lite blonde surfer boy
Ramsay - no
Reuben - little dark haired blue eyes cutie
Nathan - brat
Alexander - serious blonde child
Matthew - no
Vinnie (Vincent) - eugh
Spencer - definitely no
Finlay - lovely but I'd NN to Finn

Ikeameatballs · 08/07/2021 23:08

Finn is my favourite from the list.

I thought that I would like Ramsay more than I do, sounds odd but the name has positive associations for me yet my first feelings were not that positive. It does however have the advantage of being unusual which may or may not be important to you.

I like Alexander but it’s very popular.

I actively dislike Matthew and Spencer.

I like Vincent but not Vinnie.

Finlay, Reuben and Nathan are all ok.
