Marcie...?

We have a baby girl on the way and DH really loves it. I love it too even though sometimes I think it sounds a little bit twee?

Please suggest other names similar to this and a middle name that goes with it. I can't seem to find anything that goes with it😩

Thanks 😊

It's sweet but I refer it with a y

Marcy Eva

I know a few American girls/women called Marcy, but not with your spelling.

It's a nice name. Kind of twee as you say, but the girls/women I knew called Marcy were very girlie so I think I feel that way because of them.

EssentialHummus · 04/07/2021 16:30

I find it really twee, so if you’re after girls’ names I find similarly irritating Grin

Dd's mn is Marcia..

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/07/2021 18:45

Think it will probably be misheard as Darcy a lot and will frequently be misspelt no matter how much you correct people! It’s nice enough though and fits the common trend with girls names.

Retrievemysanity · 04/07/2021 20:25

I know a marcie but I can’t get over the ‘arsey’ sound. I prefer Macie.

applesarethebest · 04/07/2021 20:44

This was on our shortlist for a girl! But as a nickname for Marcelline.

Undertheoldlindentree · 04/07/2021 21:01

Not sure why, but I always find it a bit harsh. No logical reason, just a feeling. She might get 'Marce' as a nn at school or work.

Camandmitch · 04/07/2021 21:07

I really like it and considered it for a while for my DD. Probably would have chosen Marcella and used Marcy as a diminutive.

parttimedrifter · 04/07/2021 21:08

I don’t mind it

Ha! Never associated the two until now lol. It does not put me off though

Awww that's lovely. I had thought of Marcella but not Marceline. Lovely name ☺️

What about Macy?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 04/07/2021 22:32

I like it best as a nn for Marcia. On it's own feels a bit "unfinished" to me.

Elderflower14 · 04/07/2021 22:35

Reminds me of Peanuts!

Agree with pp, it seems 'unfinished'.

Rapskallion · 04/07/2021 23:17

I don’t mind Marcie. But not Marcia, it sounds like Marsha which is awful. I wanted to call my last DC Marla if he was a girl!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/07/2021 00:20

I think I'd go with Marcella and use Marcie as a nickname

I'm not too fond of using nicknames as given names so wouldn't use Jimmy instead of James or Lizzie instead of Elizabeth on the birth certificate.
