Thoughts? Are there many Gabriella’s? Or should I go with Lily?

Prefer Gabrielle.
Gabriella doesn't sound as classy to my ears and I think umbrella tooGrin.
Gabrielle Lily would be my choice.

My next door neighbour daughter is called Gabriella, it's nice enough but always seems like a right mouthful when she's shouting her in for dinner or whatever. But the shortening of Gabby isn't very nice either...

Leftmyheartinthe90s · 27/06/2021 14:08

Is Gabi, Gaby or Gabby the nicest if it gets shortened at school by friends etc?

I really like Gabriella but not shortened though. Would Gabriella Lilly be a mouth full? So many L's

In Italy it would be Gabri.
Topseyt · 27/06/2021 14:23

I like it. Gabriella Lily is a lovely combination too.

I like all of it's shortenings. Gaby is obviously the most usual of those, but I also know of a young Gabriella who shortens hers to Bella. Not a classic shortening, but nice and not too much of a stretch.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 27/06/2021 14:27

Great name!

Theoldwoman · 27/06/2021 14:29

I prefer Ella. Or Lily.

Strokethefurrywall · 27/06/2021 14:30

My niece is Gabriella but her nickname is Gigi. It’s a beautiful name, definitely better than Lily!

Stevearnottsbeard · 27/06/2021 14:37

Love Gabriella, or gabrielle but not gabriella lily, way too many L's. I actually don't mind gabby as a nickname

bruffin · 27/06/2021 14:40

Its lovely.

Lucia574 · 27/06/2021 14:44

I know three Gabbis and only one Lily. I’ve never taught a Gabrielle/Gabriella who doesn’t abbreviate to Gabi/Gabby etc, which is less pretty.

BusMum79 · 27/06/2021 14:47

I have a Gabriella. We do nickname her Gabby a fair bit, but I like it and I prefer that to Ella as a shortening. She’s almost two and we haven’t met any others so far. She is the youngest of 3 (two older brothers) and I haven’t encountered it amongst my sons’ peers either.

BrownEyedSquirrel · 27/06/2021 15:39

I adore this name. Classical, underused, elegant. Also love the nns Gabby, Brie and Ella.

I'm adding this to my list OP!

Not that I'm expecting but a girl can dream ;)

Pinkypink · 27/06/2021 19:36

I love it.
One of my faves.
Also love Gabrielle

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 27/06/2021 19:57

Love it!

hawkehurstgang · 27/06/2021 20:12

Lovely

Squeakerfoot · 27/06/2021 20:19

Beautiful name. Gabi is nicest in my opinion.

SunflowerOwl · 27/06/2021 21:12

I love it and also like Gabby as a nn.

EishetChayil · 27/06/2021 23:11

Gab is so ugly. Gabby. Ugh.

Leftmyheartinthe90s · 28/06/2021 00:34

@EishetChayil I didn’t say Gab

I like it. Prefer with one L perhaps? Lily as middle name doesnt flow because it begins with L, you get la li ly.

woodfort · 28/06/2021 07:19

It’s a fantastic name. Strong and feminine at the same time.

Relatively unusual but yet a very known name that everyone knows how to pronounce.

woodfort · 28/06/2021 07:22

Gabriella is 137th in the ONS name charts btw (and Gabrielle 513th).

Lily is 9th.

joystir59 · 28/06/2021 07:23

Gabrielle is beautiful.
