My ds is called Jenson (which is Scandinavian). My dd is called Roxanna.

We like the name Maximilian and were set on this for baby 3 if a boy.

However, I keep coming back to Axel (also Scandinavian). My husband really likes it too.

Which would you choose?

Maximilian, Axel makes me think dodgy US rock band

I'd choose Maximilian - classic but underused and still quite international. I think Axel is a bit harder to pull off in the UK, as while it may be well used in Scandinavia and some of the other European countries, it does sound a bit harsh/quite rock star imo.

If you love the name Maximilian you have to make peace with the fact that 95% of the people in his life will call him Max. No one's got time for 'Maximilian'.

Marty13 · 13/06/2021 04:39

Maxel ? Haha.
I love Axel. Maximilian also sounds good but not as much !

MoppaSprings · 13/06/2021 06:45

First thought was Axel Foley.

GreyEyedWitch · 15/06/2021 14:29

Max all the way!

Icantthinkofanythingrightnow · 15/06/2021 14:52

Love both but I'd pick Axel

If you like Aria how about Audrey or Jemima or Delilah or Greta

Marcipex · 16/06/2021 10:10

I like both names, I especially like Maxim.
We had a Maximilian at nursery whose parents insisted his whole name was always used...we of course complied, but it’s unrealistic to think that will happen in the outside world.

Newmum29 · 16/06/2021 10:12

Max

Newmum29 · 16/06/2021 10:14

Oh and aria is a bit pretentious

Blowingagale · 16/06/2021 10:18

I prefer Max, but Axel, but that is mainly influenced by my poor spelling. I’d find the full form of Max hard.
