We had settled on a lovely name but sadly several people have chosen it so we've had to go back to the drawing board again. We've picked a few but we can't choose a favourite. So I need some opinions
Shona
Naoise (nee-sha)
Keziah
Farrah
Ursula

I love Farrah.

partyatthepalace · 08/06/2021 21:54

I rather love Shona - it’s a very Scottish and brisk, she’d be a no nonsense lass. Don’t mind Ursula, Keziah a bit meh.

Naoise I don’t like and it will be a pain re spelling. Farrah just makes me think of dodgy American soaps, though that will be generational.,

Guineapiggiesmalls · 08/06/2021 22:10

Oh, definitely Shona! That was on our list, it's such a lovely sound.

AhNowTed · 08/06/2021 22:27

Shona.

AnyaMoondial · 08/06/2021 22:28

Ursula is brilliant

RickOShay · 08/06/2021 22:29

Love Naoise.

miltonj · 08/06/2021 22:30

Love keziah. Said kez - ee- ah. Some people say key zee ah and others say kez eye ah. That was what put me off using it, but I will consider again if I'm blessed with another daughter!

ThisMarleyIsNotALabrador · 08/06/2021 22:31

Kesiah is lovely. I don’t like the others at all sorry 😞

chillied · 08/06/2021 22:42

Shona

I like the sound of Naoise but not the spelling

Tillygetsit · 08/06/2021 22:44

Kesiah is my clear favourite.

miltonj · 08/06/2021 23:00

Ooh I like kesiah even more with an a S I think. Maybe that would be pronounced slightly softer

SoapboxFox · 08/06/2021 23:23

I like Keziah best, then Naoise.

blameitonthecaffeine · 08/06/2021 23:23

Shona - not keen. I hear 'Show? Nah!' which is really weird of me but it puts me off somehow.
Naoise (nee-sha) - never heard of this. I think it looks prettier than it sounds. It's ok.
Keziah - like this. One of few girl's Bible names which has stayed rare (apart from the never used, unpronounceable ones).
Farrah - like this.
Ursula - strongly dislike this. Always have. It's one of very few names which I think are genuinely ugly (sorry!) Maybe it's the sea witch thing but I don't think so.

I think I would choose Keziah.

reallyalurker · 08/06/2021 23:28

These are all lovely. I think I'd go with Naoise, but it's a close call.

stabinthedark0 · 08/06/2021 23:37

We're talking about naming human beings here aren't we. It's not a playground game Hmm

Lemur12 · 08/06/2021 23:42

Shona - feels a bit dated to me
Naoise (nee-sha) - not keen
Keziah - quite like
Farrah - really like
Ursula - reminds me of Friends / The Little Mermaid, so wouldn't use it personally, though love the meaning

IdblowJonSnow · 09/06/2021 00:16

I like Ursula a lot.
Otherwise Kezia.

Dislike the others.

olidora63 · 09/06/2021 00:19

Am sorry but am not a fan of any of your choices .

It’s the baby name board Pp, where people come to, you know, get opinions on names? Asking people to put them in order is a quick way to cut a list down... or to approach this from a different direction, who pissed on your chips? Grin
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 09/06/2021 00:56

I think Keziah is my fave of your list - a pretty and fairly uncommon biblical with a cute nn in Kizzy. Having said that, Celtic Shona is lovely too!

Farrah feels a bit dated to me somehow and I've never liked the sound of Ursula, sorry. Naoise is okay, but I don't know how much of of pain she might find explaining the pronunciation/spelling if you don't live in Ireland?

MrsW150917 · 09/06/2021 01:49

I like 2 names off that list. Why don't you consider a hyphenated name or having one as a middle name?
I think Farrah Keziah has a nice ring to it

DramaAlpaca · 09/06/2021 01:55

Interesting selection!

Shona - I've always liked this name
Naoise - I like it, but I'm in Ireland and familiar with it. In the UK you might get issues. Oh, and it just autocorrected to 'noise' Grin
Keziah - love it, but would spell Kezia
Farrah - very 70s but OK
Ursula - just no. Very old fashioned and the 'she bear' meaning is off putting to me

😳 What a bizarre thing to post on a baby naming board. Are you going to go through every baby name thread ever posted and comment the same thing?

I love Keziah (but it isn't pronounced Kez-ee-uh, as a PP said, it's Kez-eye-uh) and Ursula. What was the name you chose previously but can't use?

miltonj · 09/06/2021 05:48

@Posieandpip there are various pronunciations of it. Hence my post.

DalPalak · 09/06/2021 06:25

Keziah and Ursula are beautiful. I can't say I'm a fan of the others. I thought Naoise was a boys' name.
