Wren or Ivy

Hello,

Thinking of naming our daughter who we are expecting next month all going well Ivy or Wren....we both struggle with girls names and so I'm happy to even have two we both like at this stage as with my last daughter we had nothing agreed on when she arrived.

I know the downside is Ivy is becoming extremely popular but I do really like it still.

What are your thoughts?

Ivy - really pretty name IMO

Chimchar · 02/06/2021 21:26

Wren. As soon as I read it I thought how lovely it is!

DotDotDotDotDot · 02/06/2021 22:00

Of the two I’d choose Ivy, it just seems a stronger choice. Maybe Iris or Robin?

Enough4me · 02/06/2021 22:02

Ivy makes me think of IV fluids, so Wren.

LeafBeetle · 02/06/2021 22:03

Ivy. Or I like Iris even more.

newreality1 · 02/06/2021 22:08

Wren is gorgeous. Though both names are lovely.

Cattenberg · 02/06/2021 22:09

Helen George’s daughter is called Wren Ivy.

I prefer Wren. Ivy makes me think of gothic architecture and cemeteries, though that’s probably irrational.

LawnFever · 02/06/2021 22:15

I love Wren, the only person I’ve ever known with the name was my great grandmother, I think it’s lovely

BooGhoosty · 02/06/2021 22:22

I love them both.

Editedby · 02/06/2021 22:25

Agree with pp on Renee. It was my choice had I had a girl

TheMotherlode · 02/06/2021 22:29

I like them both, but prefer Ivy

Woulditbeworth · 02/06/2021 22:33

Love Ivy, was going to be DD’s name but am older relative kept saying ‘poison ivy’ and it ruined it.

Also love the name Ferne which i’d put in the same category as Ivy / Wren. x

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Ivy Wren would be nice
Ivy Wren does sound nice. I vote for this! Cake
mrscoxaools · 02/06/2021 23:13

Sorry, I love them both so I'm no use Smile

partyatthepalace · 02/06/2021 23:19

Ivy. It’s a great name

Wren, because it sounds like Ren just makes me think of Star Wars.

Love Robin though. Iris, Ines, Iona, Ione (I-oh-ne), Esther, Eseld, Elowen, Ellen, Ffion - any good?!

GratitudeGoddess · 02/06/2021 23:23

Wren

Checkingout811 · 02/06/2021 23:25

Ivy is ok.

I know 2 young boys called Wren, no girls.

DramaAlpaca · 02/06/2021 23:35

Ivy

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/06/2021 23:37

Of the two, Wren. Ivy is very retro trendy - and will blend in with all the Evie's too.

ellenpartridge · 02/06/2021 23:38

Ivy is much nicer but it's SO popular. I have a 2 month old and come across about 10 Ivy's on the baby scene since I had him!

EmphaticPeriod · 02/06/2021 23:52

Wren

Iris, Imogen, Renee, Lark

Temp023 · 03/06/2021 06:31

Wren is lovely, but if she is likely to end up 6ft 3in and 14stone, I would go with Ivy.

Penny21xxx · 03/06/2021 12:21

Love Wren! I know 6 Ivy's under 5 and our due date group is full of babies being born June/July with lots of Ivy's!

Standrewsschool · 03/06/2021 12:25

When I read your choice, Wren instantly got my vote.

moolady1977 · 03/06/2021 12:47

My oh niece is called Wren and I really like it
