Douglas, Franklin or Seth?

These are the only 3 names on our list and it took us sooo long to even get to 3 as we dislike most boys names. Due in 4 weeks.

We decided on Seth a long time ago but are now sort of put off it because of the way people pronounce it (especially in the West Country) as Seff - I've even found myself doing it.. but don't really want to rule the name out as we were 100% set on it.

Thankfully we found 2 other names.. we like the idea of Douglas with nn Dougie or Doug, also Franklin nn Frankie or Frank - I think it's nice he can have a "proper" name on his birth certificate with the option of different nicknames.

Opinions? Surname is one syllable five letters and begins with G Smile

Douglas for me! Very nice.

HoldingTheDoor · 01/06/2021 14:48

If it's now between Douglas and Franklin, definitely Douglas.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 01/06/2021 14:53

I love Douglas-great as a name with good nicknames.

Franklin just slightly TTH and American to me...

partyatthepalace · 01/06/2021 19:34

I love Douglas so I’d go for that!
Also quite love Seth, but with pronunciation issues maybe a middle name?

I like Franklin but it’s getting v popular. Douglas or Seth stands out much more, without being very unusual.

Douglas is fabulous.

I don't like Franklin or Seth at all.

Samg93 · 01/06/2021 22:38

Douglas seems to be quite popular, I'm quite surprised as I have been leaning more towards Franklin! Though I love both and don't want to leave either behind Confused this is so hard!!!!

Douglas is my favourite by a long way.

MimiDaisy11 · 01/06/2021 22:54

I prefer Douglas. I think it's timeless and has good nicknames.

FrumpyBetty · 01/06/2021 23:03

Franklin is an excellent name. Douglas seems a bit 80's to me, but it's growing on me.

gulliblestravels · 01/06/2021 23:06

Franklin is a ninja turtle, so its a no from me

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 01/06/2021 23:06

I like Seth a lot - short and simple but not overused (but I think you've discounted that now!). Douglas is fine but I dislike Doug/Dougie, sorry - the same with Franklin (not keen on the Frank/Frankie nn's).

Makirocks23 · 01/06/2021 23:08

I’m definitely bias as I have a Seth and he is the coolest kid, is only just growing out of calling himself seff though. We mainly call him sethy as that’s what his brother named him. The pronunciation will be a tiny bugbear but that’s all. Although I have to say that as I also have an Arfur Grin

paddywaddymoorehen · 02/06/2021 17:22

Not Seth or Douglas, Franklin is bearable.

zingally · 02/06/2021 17:28

I don't like Seth, but maybe because I've read too much about Ancient Egypt, and Seth is the god of chaos and violence! Plus Seth is a nightmare name for anyone with even a hint of a lisp!

I'm neutral towards Douglas and Franklin. But would probably lean towards Franklin if I had to pick.

Amdone123 · 02/06/2021 17:28

Seth is lovely. I dislike Franklin. Agree with a pp regarding Frank, so ugly sounding.

Douglas is one of those names that years ago, I would have thought No ! But, nowadays, all the old fashioned names are doing the rounds, and the more I say it, the more I like it.
It's great for a baby, a teenager and an adult.

Hufflepuffsunite · 02/06/2021 17:31

I really like Douglas! Not a huge fan of Franklin.
