What do you think of the name Jasper for a girl?

I dislike Jasper for a boy but particularly dislike it for a girl

@SirSamuelVimes

I dunno, what do you think about the name Laura for a boy?
If it suits your boy then go for it. Wink

I think maybe I'm loosing my marbles a bit. I admittedly did snort loudly when he suggested it, so thanks all. I'll tell him it's a flat 'over my dead body'.

Were you a big fan of Press Gang?

Posieandpip · 31/05/2021 20:33

Love it for a girl! Sounds perfect. I always thought it was a lovely name but too feminine sounding foe a boy.

Vikingintraining · 31/05/2021 20:57

Lovely for a boy, ridiculous for a girl.
@Tillygetsit Your Jasper is so cute!

belleager · 31/05/2021 21:02

Love it for either. Apparently there is a girl's version Jasperina which I'm not so keen on.

belleager · 31/05/2021 21:07

Worth thinking too that names migrate, masculine -> feminine, and then parents in the US at least stop giving them to boys. It's perceived as a disadvantage to boys to have a "girl's" name but not vice versa. Actually I presume it can be an advantage, at work.

Agree with @Posieandpip - "sounds" feminine to me. Maybe because most jewel names are. Love it, anyway.
