I don't really like any girls names.

When TTC there were so many girls names I liked, I think there is definitely a lot more to choose from , but now I'm pregnant I just don't like any of them!

We agreed on 2 boys names straight away which we are both happy with.

I do really like Martha and Mabel both have been vetoed by my other half.

The only 2 names we both like are Thea and Reya. But I'm just not sure on either. There is nothing I really love. I keep coming back to Cora but he isn't keen. I like older classics and he hates them.

Please help me, I really need some inspiration and opinions on Thea and Reya/Raya

We have a long surname so preferably something short. There must be something out there I will love?!

Thank you 😊

Wait until baby is born, you may be inspired when you look at them. 🙂

Twizbe · 29/05/2021 12:31

You've got a while I guess until baby is here. Just wait and see what suits them.

I had boys names picked both times. I Had a few girls names in mind but nothing certain. When DC2 was born and we saw she was a girl it took us the rest of the morning to decide on a final name for her.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 29/05/2021 12:35

I had this problem too. Really struggled with my boys names, and thought if I ever had a girl I would find it really easy to pick a name because there were so many I liked. Then I got pregnant with a girl and was stumped. I eventually got a short list and decided on my favourite. Something I had never though of before, and I don't know a single other person with the name. You will eventually find one you like.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 29/05/2021 12:41

Ella

Thalia

Elena (I would have used the spelling Alaina though, because not many people I know could get their head around pronouncing Elena properly)

Catriona (said the way its spelled, but no one could get that either 🙄)

Romy

I did use one of them.

I do like Thea but not Reya I’m afraid. How about Ria instead? Other suggestions

Dara
Mia
Ellen
Alice
Pheobe
Joni

purplejungle · 29/05/2021 12:59

Maeve?

MigsandTiggs · 29/05/2021 13:09

I like Morgan for a girl

Kimblebee19 · 29/05/2021 13:13

I like Thea and Reya. I like Reya quite a lot actually! Have you thought about Freya, thats a good mix of the two. Or Reagan / Regan? Also Althea, Anthea, Faye, Skylar. Off piste, but if it wasnt a clash with my surname I love Brooke.
What are your boy name choices? (might help give an idea of your taste, but also honestly looking for inspiration myself as DH and I agree on nothing and I'm stumped!

DotDotDotDotDot · 29/05/2021 13:32

I like Cora best out of your suggestions. Maybe Nina, Lois, Anya or Lara?

Christmasbird · 29/05/2021 13:36

I like Cara. But pronounced like Karrah instead of ca-ra if you know what I mean

BettySuz · 29/05/2021 13:37

@MissyB1 Reya actually came from the fact I love the name Ria, but it made me think diarrhea and I couldn't shake it. I also love Mia but know so many of them it puts me off. Great suggestions though, I'm definitely looking along those lines.

@Kimblebee19 I nearly called my daughter Freya, I do like it but again I know lots of them, which is why I'm leaning towards Reya as it's a little different.

I would like to have a few names I love before going into labour, being exhausted and emotional after giving birth, I would probably choose something ridiculous 😆

Boys names we like are Ellis and Myles

Ju11tne · 29/05/2021 13:42

Imogen is lovely.

TabithaTiger · 29/05/2021 14:12

If you like Ellis for a boy, how about Elise (pronounced El-eece) for a girl?

Some others I like...Tia, Kira, Rosa, Lana, Isla, Paige, Zoe

Camandmitch · 29/05/2021 14:13

Nora

duckoutofwater · 30/05/2021 13:27

I know a girl Ellis, who's about 10, so think it could be unisex. Would you consider that for a girl too?

partyatthepalace · 30/05/2021 19:52

Thea is alright, Reya is a bit nothing-y/made up to me. Freya is lovely but agree popular.

Zara, Stella, Estella, Hera, Yara, Briar, Thora, Tara, Katya, Anya, Lois, Ines, Linos, Juno, Cleo, Oona, Orla, Sorcha, Sacha, Xanthe, Zoe, Circe

Love Myles

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/05/2021 00:38

I'd probably go with Thea of the two - popular but not too overused (at the moment, although admittedly it has had a really rapid rise!). Reya/Raya will always have to spell her name which could be annoying.

If you like short, mythological names that are well known but not top 25/30 (like Cora and Thea) - maybe consider Lara or Iris instead? There's also Gaia, but that might be more unusual in the UK (super popular in Italy though!). Or if you like the style of retro/vintage Mabel and the look of Freya, how about Frida?

Asherline · 31/05/2021 00:53

Marla is my new favourite

sashh · 31/05/2021 03:49

I used to teach a girl called Ellis, so they are not all boys.

If you like Ellis what about Alice for a more traditional girl's name?

Aria999 · 31/05/2021 04:15

Cara (as pp suggested but I like the car-a) pronunciation.

Dd is Maia (or Maya as everyone spells it wrong 🤣).

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 31/05/2021 13:22

Thea is lovely!

How about

Cleo
Anya
Annie
Ivy
Tess
Pippa
Lara

SoapboxFox · 31/05/2021 15:24

Marnie
Lena
Sophia
Carys
Phoebe
Ivy
Naomi
Zoe
Hannah

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/05/2021 20:14

Thinking about it more - how about Theia? It's kind of a cross between Thea and Reya (it's usually pronounced "Thay -ah"). Theia is a Titaness in Greek Mythology - the mother of the Gods of the Moon, Sun and Dawn.

BettySuz · 31/05/2021 21:12

Lots of people are suggesting my name, it seems well liked on here which is nice 😄

I love Alice and Zara, but can't use them. I also like Lois and Zoe, but not sure if they're a bit meh?!
