Can't decide between two names

MooseMoose · 18/05/2021 10:10

I posted a while ago with our shortlist of names and I think we've managed to narrow it down to two, but I can't decide and we only have a few weeks to go -

Phoebe
Sabrina

Leaning towards Phoebe, but a bit worried it sounds too 'cutesy' and is quite popular (#22). DS1 is Nia (Nee-ah), if that makes any difference. Thanks.

I much prefer Phoebe

AnyaMoondial · 18/05/2021 10:11

Both great names, can’t go wrong. Sabrina is my favourite.

HoldingTheDoor · 18/05/2021 10:11

Phoebe is much nicer.

WithASpider · 18/05/2021 10:13

I prefer Phoebe but there's nothing to stop you seeing what she looks like first!

DS has a completely different name to the one we'd decided on for a boy.

Oh I agree, and we have a couple of other names in reserve too, I'm just interested in opinions and like to feel organised 😊

I really like both. Currently I'd choose Sabrina but equally Phoebe is a great name so it's a tough choice! Sorry, I'm not helpful at all.

CaviarAndCigarettes · 18/05/2021 11:51

I prefer phoebe.
I think if you were talking about the children collectively and said Nia and Sabrina or Sabrina and Nia there's too many "n" sounds in quick succession

Yep - I like the fact that Phoebe sounds completely different.

emmathedilemma · 18/05/2021 13:29

Phoebe

Phoebe

Melstarrynight · 18/05/2021 13:42

Another vote for Phoebe.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 18/05/2021 13:43

Phoebe is lovely.

Peachee · 18/05/2021 13:45

I really love both! Great choices.. I think I would struggle to choose either..

PassGo · 18/05/2021 14:08

I like both... do they both flow equally well with your surname?

Lululucygrace · 18/05/2021 14:11

Phoebe

Yep, they both sound fine with our surname

They are both pretty equal to me however Phoebe 110% goes better with Nia.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/05/2021 14:47

Sabrina would be my choice, very elegant feeling. Phoebe just sounds more cutesy to me.

whatausername · 18/05/2021 15:06

I much prefer Sabrina but then I read about Nia. In which case I'd go for Phoebe!

Soubriquet · 18/05/2021 15:07

I think Sarina is a bit too close to Nia so I would go for Phoebe

CaffiSaliMali · 18/05/2021 15:34

I prefer Sabrina, I think it goes nicely with Nia which is Welsh for Niamh as Sabrina is the latinate name for the Welsh goddess Hafren.

Phoebe is lovely but very popular whereas Nia and Sabrina are both more unusual.

LouLikesLollies · 18/05/2021 17:07

Phoebe is a lovely name!

Pinkypink · 18/05/2021 17:37

Phoebe bc I love it but also bc Sabrina makes me think of the 90s song So Macho.... which I accept is not the poignant of cultural references.
Anyway Phoebe is lovely

DotDotDotDotDot · 18/05/2021 17:58

Both lovely choices, although I slightly prefer Phoebe. Also a bonus that it sounds better with Nia. Good luck.
