I'm down to my top three boys names for DC3, both DH and I have different favourites although I do like all three and could see myself using any of them.

A little inspired by the Jasper/ James / Jonah thread, I was wondering what kind of person you would picture when hearing these names:

  • Heath
  • River
-Ragnar

Heath - fine, not for me but fine
River - but hippy
Ragnar - WTF?

Palavah · 10/05/2021 11:08

Heath - Ledger
River - Phoenix
Ragnar - Thor Ragnarok

Serpenta · 10/05/2021 11:14

Heath - hippyish, surfery, handsome kind of guy.

River - Phoenix. Seems popular at the moment but I'm not keen. Heath obviously has the Ledger connection but seems more of a name in its own right.

Ragnar - some kind massive beardy Viking travelling around in his longboat raping and pillaging. It's quite an intense name.

Hazel444 · 10/05/2021 11:14

Heath and River I would think probably a quite middle class, but slightly hippy parental background. Ragnar, I guess I would think the parents really liked the show Vikings (unless I knew they had a Scandinavian background), and I'd kind of feel a bit sorry for them, much like I'd feel sorry for people named after GoT characters!

Serpenta · 10/05/2021 11:15

*'kind of massive beardy Viking' rather than a kind massive beardy Viking

IsThePopeCatholic · 10/05/2021 11:16

Pretentious - all 3.

Lavender201 · 10/05/2021 11:28

Go with Heath. That’s a nice normal name.

Definitely not Ragnar.

ThatIsMyPotato · 10/05/2021 11:49

Heath - Ledger
River - River
Ragnar - Vikings

UCOinanOCG · 10/05/2021 11:49

Heath and River both fine. Not my cup of tea but not too out there

Ragnar is awful. I agree with the big beardy Viking vibe.

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/05/2021 14:13
  • Heath - popular kid, quite sporty, a lads lad
  • River - mummy's boy, shy, socially awkward, sensitive
-Ragnar - loud, opinionated, brutish
vampirethriller · 10/05/2021 14:16

Heath Ledger
River Phoenix
Ragnar is terrible...

Gullible2021 · 10/05/2021 14:19

I’d think you were obsessed with movies and movie stars!

VenusClapTrap · 10/05/2021 14:36

Heath - an ex boyfriend so I can’t get past those associations
River - hippyish parents.
Ragnar - Scandinavian roots. Love this name.

JemimaJoy · 10/05/2021 15:15

Ledger
Phoenix
Ragnar?!!!!! What?

KingPong · 10/05/2021 15:18

This is like Daniel, Sean, Balonz #2

Divebar2021 · 10/05/2021 15:25

I would also think Heath Ledger and River Phoenix but that association will lessen as younger generations won’t be so familiar with them.

user1493494961 · 10/05/2021 15:27

Agree with pretentious.

MyMagicStars · 10/05/2021 16:08

Heath- Hampstead
River- hippy but the best of the three
Ragnar- reminds me of bottled water

Crunchymum · 10/05/2021 16:10

Ragnar is my friends dogs name.

Other too a bit too whimsical for my own tastes but nice enough.

AdaColeman · 10/05/2021 16:13

Ragnar is absolutely fab! You should definitely choose that.

Not keen at all on Heath or River, too Geography GCSE for my taste.

wishiwasbytheseaside · 10/05/2021 16:24
  • Heath - Heath Ledger
  • River - River Phoenix
-Ragnar - Viking from The Last Kingdom series

As a name for a child I like River the best for the sound but it's a bit hippy. Heath is the best for an actual child that has to live with the name

Moonlaserbearwolf · 10/05/2021 16:31

Never heard of Ragnar. I wouldn’t know what to think!

I like the other two names. I would assume you were quite alternative, hippy parents (that’s not a bad thing!)

MumofSpud · 10/05/2021 16:38

Heath - best of the 3
River - I would think not a great name - trying too hard
Ragnar - don't know if this is from GoT etc but if it is I would think No!

MerryChristmasToYou · 10/05/2021 16:54

Heath - too much like Keith
River - wet
Ragnar - not familiar with it

lljkk · 10/05/2021 18:12

Boy. Deffo more boy than girl names. Earthy. Practical.
